Hello!
I just wanted to post how my 1st week phase 1 trial of ARRY-438162 went. my history is I was originally diagnosed 2007 with colon cancer that had ruptured and gone into my abdomen. The 1st year I had surgery and 4fu and xeloda chemo. Two months after my chemo I felt something was wrong again. My wonderful Dr. had me do a pet scan and it was positive in 4 new places still in my colon and abdomen. She said I need a gene test for kras and surgery . I had more surgery a colostomy and chemo CPT11, Camptosar. I do have the mutated kras gene so the 1st and 2nd treatments didn't work. I am now getting as my chemo in pill form called ARRY-438162 at START (South Texas Accelerated Research Therapeutics. I had mett with my new Dr. and staff last week. Fri. they had me do a base line CT, ECG and labs. Mon. very early I got more labs and ECG then I got the drug. I had more labs, ECG, and vital signs for the next 12 hrs. Wow that was a long day. I came back Tue am for vital signs labs, ECG and then was given the drug waited an hour or 2 had vitals again then was given 1 weeks supply of pills. I take 3 pills 2 times a day 12 hr apart. I go back tomorrow Mon. to do more of the same but not a 12 hour day.I also see Dr. Patnaik on mon. The side affects of what I'm taking for me have been 2 days with diarrhea a little fatigue, and a lite rash on the lower part of my face.
After 3 weeks of this I get another CT for Dr. Patnaik to compare to my base line CT. If my cancer is the same size or smaller I continue with this trial. I won't know the about CT results till right after Chrismas. So I'm praying that they are shrinking or at the very least not growing. Everyone here has been kind, helpful and caring.
