I see the surgeon on Wednesday to determine when surgery will occur. The second opinion clinic and I have agreed on the lumpectomy. The surgeon presented mastetomy(misspelled) and Lumpectomy choices, but since the % for recurrence were so close it seemed insignificant.

I do like the website connection. I have lots of up times, few down ones when I am alone mainly. Just glad to write this. I will start journaling tomorrow. Sorry for the rambling, but just needed to talk.

Oh, I have been reading a lot on nutrition, since I am overweight so I am changing that immediately regardless.

I too am recently breast cancer victim. I sought the opinion (2nd) of a breast cancer specialist. My general surgeon was preparing me for a mac'tmy // shall I say - slice and dice, then push me out .. Chemo for 1 year .. nothing more was explained to me and my husband. I did ask (why???? i don't know) for a copy of my biospy reports.

My appointment to get all new path reports, along w/mri is scheduled for Tuesday, August 25th at 2:30 p.m.

I was in a fog/blurred for several days, however, I found our website .. This website has provided me with friendship, love and support. Did I mention the research and data. My cup is overflowing.

We sat down and spoke to our children. I told them that breast cancer was not a death sentence,but to be prepared as our world would be upside down due surgeries, testing and chemo. The first few days my kids looked at me funny, scared of the unknown. Now things are back to normal .. the yelling, fighting and screaming fills our home.

I am truly sorry that you lost your mom only 3 weeks ago. We need our mom's during these trying times. Please know .. that we are here for your 24/7. No questions asked - just love and support.

I am sending hugs for you at such a terrible time. We are here for you...many of us (me especially) are old enough to help mother you...battling cancer is so much better with friends!

Try living each day. Don't think about anything but this day. Also, take GOOD care of yourself...treat your body like a faithful, warm friend that is battling this thing WITH you.

I am over 3 years post-treatment for stage II breast cancer, and 4 years for stage III rectal cancer. There IS a life after this is what I am trying to say.

This is definitely one website that one would wish to avoid unless, of course, you have been dx with bc. Everyone who has logged on here has found comfort and support from others who have, or are currently, going through what you are now. It will be, no doubt, the greatest challenge you will have in your lifetime, but you will also be amazed by the hope of the many survivors that will be with you every step of the way so you will not have to face it alone.

I am a 3-year survivor who came to this site for the first time in May of this year and I have not regretted one moment that I have spent on this board.

Talk, cry, share, and, surprising as it may sound, even laugh with us. Someone is online around-the-clock, either because of time differences or because they have been stricken with insomnia (again).

I'm so sorry you are having to deal with this on top of the grief you must be feeling for your mother. Telling your sons must have been very difficult as well. I know it may not feel like it, but there is some good news in your diagnosis. Well differentiated means that the cancer cells look and behave like normal cells. This indicates a less aggressive cancer, which is always good. My cells were poorly differentiated and classified as grade 3 (different from stages), and my prognosis is still good. There are many aspects to cancer and, unfortunately, you will be on a crash course in the months to come. But you are starting off with -- relatively -- good news. So sorry to hear of the death of your Mom. My Mom died in June of '03 (brain tumor) and I was diagnosed in Oct of '03 with stage llB BC (on my birthday no less). I am a 6 year BC survivor. I went through 6 chemo treatments and 34 radiation treatments. I had a complete mastectomy and no re-construct (my choice). Haven't looked back. The first week after diagnosis is the hardest. So many emotions and decisions. My greatest strength was in my faith. I realized that God knew long before this happened to me and He knew how it would turn out. I had to put my trust in Him and rely on His guidance for every decision. When I put my trust in Him everything just fell into place. Every surgery, every treatment, went so smooth. I was never nauseaous, I went back to work 4 weeks after my surgery, I was back to work on Fri. after each chemo treatment, I drove myself to all radiation treatments, and helped to take care of my 89 year old Dad. Was it easy? No, NO, NO!!!! I got tired, I had insomnia, I didn't want to eat, when I could sleep it would be for hours on end (on weekends). So take each minute, hour and day one at a time. Make decisions based on what is good for YOU! And never look back.
