It's that time again: Roll call, weekend update!! Feeling a bit ambivilent about it....
Sooo, this is a big weekend for me and Simon. We're celebrating our 7th wedding anniversary. For this, we'll be going to the tasting room of a wonderful restaurant in our charming old town. My biggest decision this weekend (I hope) will be whether to try the 5 course or the 9 course tasting menu. I am leaning toward the 5 course since reservations are at 9:45 PM and I want to go home before the sun comes up. Other than that, I have personal training on Saturday, maybe a trip to the National Gallery of Art afterwards for an exhibition of 17th century armour. I also want to see "The Ugly Truth" and "Funny People" at some point.
I also recently started a massive cookbook collection, so I might finally try to make some traditional recipes from some of those. Maybe homemade pasta from my Foods of the World, Italy cookbook. I will also be watching my Netflix films and finishing the latest "New Yorker" magazine.
So, I'm dying to know: what are YOUR weekend plans??!

Happy Anniverary Mimi and Simon!
How wonderful! And, it sounds like you will have a great celebration of it. I agree, 5 courses might be enough. lol But, it sounds like fun Mimi!
On Saturday, we are going out for pizza and beer with some of our friends. Really looking forward to it. We always have a great time. We all will probably come back to our house afterwords to carry on into the night. lol
On Sunday, I think we are just messing around here. No real plans. Just enjoying the day and each other. It is suppose to be really nice weather and we love just laying around, taking in life!
Thanks Mimi for this post again, and, Happy Anniversary!0 -

Noel, what a wonderful way to spend time! Pizza and beer with friends sounds so nice, too. I hope you have a fantastic time. You carry on into the night and live it up!0 -
I too am planning to see
I too am planning to see Funny People. I read that it runs long which is a good thing as I need the time to pass until my surgery on the 11th.
I saw Borat the weekend I had to wait for my path results to come back that monday.
It helped pass the time.0 -

I understand your
I understand your ambivilence all too well, Mimi~ this weekend especially! I too long for the day when I log on and the only subject lines we see say things like: NED, Great Pathology Reports, Going on an End Of Cancer Vacation, and Long Time Healthy Survivors Just Checking In~ NO new diagnoses anywhere, nothing but smiles. Sigh, not today though. but SOON~ and yeah, I really, really, really want to be part of that posting!!!!
So, sweet lady, on to better things for this weekend~ I can imagine how afraid you were when you were originally diagnosed, thinking , in the far recesses of your mind that you just might not see your 7th anniversary. And OMG, look at you now! Having to decide on a 5 or 9 course dinner, and perhaps the museum, what movie to see, and oh yeah, what traditional foods to make from your compilation of recipes! I am grinning from ear to ear and visualizing you!!!
Have a happy, romantic, love-filled weekend;and give Simon a hug and congrats from all of us, would you? or, when you are raising a glass, pretend we are raising one to the two of you as well, ok???
Happy Anniversary!!!!
Hugs,
Claudia0 -
Happy Anniversary Mimi to
Happy Anniversary Mimi to you and that wonderful man you're married to. I hope you have a great weekend. Hopefully, the weather will be nice for us and not the rain we have been bombarded with this past week. Saturday is catch up and run errands day and hopefully Sunday I will be able to go to the beach and relax under the umbrella and read a book. I also want to see Funny People so I'm hoping I can get there tomorrow night.
I hope you all have a great weekend. Hugs, Lili0 -

First and foremost, Happy Anniversary to Mimi and Simon! And, it sounds like a wonderful evening for you two! Just take it all in Mimi, enjoy that wonderful husband of yours and make a new memory for the two of you! I hope you have a Magical Night Together!
Saturday, well the whole weekend should be just one crazy 2 days of fun, laughter and good times. ( plus a few hangovers and sore muscles ) Hubby and I are going back down to our cabin on lake again. Suppose to be just perfect weather - YEA! And, we are going to be joined by who knows how many friends and family. At last count, I figured about 30 something. Oh my! lol People are bringing all kinds of stuff. We should be eating, drinking, boating, swimming, tanning and playing volleyball all weekend. I love these kind of weekends. The only thing better, is when I have my MAN all to myself. (wink) So, we are looking forward to it. There is nothing like family and friends that you love and that love you!
Well, I hope that everyone has a fabulous weekend! Hope you have great weather and good times! Claudia, I will be thinking and praying for you ofcourse. Hope you can relax some this weekend and know how much we love you! Mimi, once again, Happy, Happy Anniversary with Many more to come! And, thanks again Mimi for this thread. I love to see what everyone is doing!

WOW!!! Sir Paul!! That is sooo fabulous! In 2000, I saw my high school boyfriend who I had not seen since we graduated high school back in the late 60's. When he flew from Alabama to California to see me for the first time since we were both 18, he brought the most wonderful gift: A framed and matted original 45RPM of Yesterday, the label even has Paul's picture on it! And on the frame he had a personalized name plate made which reads, "To Claudia, Remembering The Wonder Years"...and to this very day, it is hanging on the wall next to my bed~ I am so glad my Reggie isn't threatened with insecurities! Cuz I am not taking it down!
Have the best, best time!!! Sing loud ok??? LOL

Happy Anniversary
I am just finishing a big week staying in a dorm and taking a class at Boise State University. There was a chefs' training going on concurrently(chef's from all over the Northwest were here), so the food was phenomenal! Spinach/fennel soup, wild rice, cassoulet...and no scale in sight!
I work with gifted and talented children. This convocation is called Edufest and people come from all over the US. Many of the presenters are from the University of Connecticut and many are from Idaho. It has been a stellar week. I am so jazzed! I also spent two evenings with my daughter and my new son-in-law; they live, work and attend college in Boise and Caldwell. I went to a Journey/Heart concert (right on campus!) with a fellow G/T facilitor (she taught my children). We drank beer - no driving. We also went to see the new Harry Potter. Our district's G/T program is relatively new (I've been at it for 2 1/2 years). This summer FIVE teachers from my district joined me here in Boise. It gives me goosebumps to think what we can accomplish as a team. You teachers reading this will know what I mean. Next year, I'm going to try to get more parents to come. (One of the teachers who came this year is also a parent of a gifted child in my district.)
At the conference yesterday I won a membership to NAGC (National Association for Gifted Children) for being the first to answer "13 is the 6th in what number sequence?" Do you know the answer? Then I also won a raffle this morning: a huge basket of Northwest goodies including a bottle of Riesling, crackers, smoked salmon, chocolate, dandelion jelly....
To think that it was not too long ago that I was considering leaving this Earth. I am so happy to be alive. Cancer has put me on an incredible emotional and spiritual journey, even though it has short-circuited my short-term memory.
When I talked to my husband last night, he told me he had made arrangements for me to meet with a Subaru salesman this afternoon. Then he plans to come down and pick up our new car on Saturday (gulp!). I plan to stay at home, pick tomatoes, fill my bird feeders, share my goodies basket with some friends, read a good book (Midnight's Children) and watch a Netflix, of course. Tonight my 16 year old is hosting a Rocky Horror Picture Show party.
