I just thought of it!!! Prime Number Sequence!! Am I right??? Good thing they didn't ask "13 is the 8th in what number sequence"!! :) Pammy

    Pammy likes puzzles
Maybe I should have called it a "series," not a "sequence." Have you ever heard of Fibonacci? He discovered this series: 1,2,3,5,8,13....Can you see the pattern? It's a mathematical formula that is frequently expressed in the natural world - in the spirals of a sunflower seed head, in the pattern of a pine cone, in a nautilus shell... Google Fibonacci and you will see amazing things including the "golden section!" xoxoxoxo Lynn

Let's Do The Time Warp Again!!!!!
Oh Lynn~ I don't even know where to start on commenting on your FABULOUS week~ I am a lovely shade of green ( which does look good on me!) because the jealousy I am feeling is of the benevolent kind! Each of your paragraphs was better than the one preceeding it! And for you to have known the answer to the sequence question, and winning a raffle, I dare say you may have seen Chemo-Brain in passing, but it is certainly no friend of yours!

Enjoy reliving the experience of Edufest, and the car, and the food and, just everything!!

Thank you so much for sharing your week with us! I am enriched from just reading about it!

    Hugs,
    Claudia

PS I just thought of an episode from the old Drew Carey show~ there was a dance off between the fans of Rocky Horror vs. Priscilla, Queen of the Desert! It was great as I recall~ I think I will do a You Tube search and see if that episode is available~ I'll bet it is!

    Drew Carey
Found the Drew Carey episode! I'd never seen it. What a hoot! I lingered too long in Boise and missed the RHPS party at my house. I got home just as my daughter's friends were leaving. So...Annie and I plan to watch it tomorrow night.

I left for Boise with a Dodge Caravan and returned with a Subaru. I loved that old Caravan. It was hard to say goodbye. 170,000+ miles (Thank you very much, radiation.)together - through ice, snow, dazzling sunsets and starlit campouts. But it was time; I hope "Cash for Clunkers" works. I'm not sure what we will do if the money is not there. E-mail your Senators.

I am thinking of you, Claudia, and praying that you can stay centered no matter what. xoxoxox Lynn

We are having a cookout here for some family and friends Saturday. Eating, drinking, talking and playing cards. ( if sober )

Sunday is just a day to do whatever, no plans. Hubby has most of his chores done, so, he will probably just bother me all day :)

    Have a great weekend!

    Happy Anniversary
Happy Anniversary--Mimi, you and Simon are lucky to have each other.

I'm working overtime Saturday and then going to a baby shower in the afternoon and then hanging out with Jake.
Sunday-church and then cookout at relatives camp.

Getting things together for Jake and I camp that we are leaving for on Wednesday-Saturday.

Your posting of what's happing for the weekend is the best, don't stop. It is so important for us to hear the good with the not so good! I wasn't on to post yesterday because running errands in the morning wiped me out and had to nap. BUT that gave me the strength to then enjoy an evening out with hubby to eat and visit with family. Today I'm hoping to get to my girlfriend's house to visit and lay by the pool (out of the house again, Yippee)!
Working while going thru treatments is tuff, not much time to visit with all of you is worse!
Hugs to all for finding enjoyment in the little things and to those who are now well in helping us to keep going!!!

    Happy Anniversary
I am just finishing a big week staying in a dorm and taking a class at Boise State University. There was a chefs' training going on concurrently(chef's from all over the Northwest were here), so the food was phenomenal! Spinach/fennel soup, wild rice, cassoulet...and no scale in sight!

I work with gifted and talented children. This convocation is called Edufest and people come from all over the US. Many of the presenters are from the University of Connecticut and many are from Idaho. It has been a stellar week. I am so jazzed! I also spent two evenings with my daughter and my new son-in-law; they live, work and attend college in Boise and Caldwell. I went to a Journey/Heart concert (right on campus!) with a fellow G/T facilitor (she taught my children). We drank beer - no driving. :) We also went to see the new Harry Potter. Our district's G/T program is relatively new (I've been at it for 2 1/2 years). This summer FIVE teachers from my district joined me here in Boise. It gives me goosebumps to think what we can accomplish as a team. You teachers reading this will know what I mean. Next year, I'm going to try to get more parents to come. (One of the teachers who came this year is also a parent of a gifted child in my district.)

At the conference yesterday I won a membership to NAGC (National Association for Gifted Children) for being the first to answer "13 is the 6th in what number sequence?" Do you know the answer? Then I also won a raffle this morning: a huge basket of Northwest goodies including a bottle of Riesling, crackers, smoked salmon, chocolate, dandelion jelly....

To think that it was not too long ago that I was considering leaving this Earth. I am so happy to be alive. Cancer has put me on an incredible emotional and spiritual journey, even though it has short-circuited my short-term memory.

When I talked to my husband last night, he told me he had made arrangements for me to meet with a Subaru salesman this afternoon. Then he plans to come down and pick up our new car on Saturday (gulp!). I plan to stay at home, pick tomatoes, fill my bird feeders, share my goodies basket with some friends, read a good book (Midnight's Children) and watch a Netflix, of course. Tonight my 16 year old is hosting a Rocky Horror Picture Show party. :)

    Whoo Hoo! xoxoxo Lynn

I have a son and a daughter who are both teachers. So I know how very valuable you are and what you can do as a team.

Your post is very uplifting and inspiring to me. It is a very emotional and spiritual journey. How fun and rewarding your life has been sounds to me there is good karma all over the place. and the raffle basket full of goodies sounds wonderful. My daughter runs in cancer races of all kinds every sunday.. In Dever Colorado, she is very good and fels she is helping me and us this way. It makes her fill better., well she came in first in her age-group thi morning and also won a raffle for a party at the Fox and the Hound. Pizza's wings, and drinks! she says she's saving it for when I get up there. What a gal I'm so proud of her.
And I'm proud of you Lynn.

P.S. I saw Heart in concert quite some years ago and loved them.

    What teachers do
I got riffed from my local school district 2 years ago - that's how I ended up in Gifted and Talented (I had been a Title 1 reading teacher). It was just by chance that I had G/T credentials (took classes to understand and advocate for my own kids!)and could segue into the new job. The bad part was that my former school is only 6 miles from my house and I knew all of the kids and most of the families and love the district (teachers, kids, admin, certified staff - they are my friends and neighbors). My new(er) job is 37 mountain miles away, larger (1000 kids), and I am only just becoming familiar with kids and family connections. Dicey navigation, if you live in a rural area. Add in that many people (many of them classroom teachers) have oodles of misinformation about gifted education, and you can see that my job is a difficult one. There was no one around who could substitute for me during chemo and radiation, which is why I kept on working. Very rough.

So, here's the good part of my job: 6 teachers (including me) attended Edufest last week. One said, "We need to get together to debrief and talk about what we have learned and what it means for us and our classrooms." I said, "OK, we can spend part of a teacher training day at the beginning of the school year - end of August - to get together." There was a chorus of: "Oh, no. We can't wait that long!" "How about next week?" So during their summer vacation, unpaid, they have already given up a week of vacation time, and they are clamoring for more. So we are meeting next week at a sushi bar in McCall to hash things out. I am learning to love my new district. I wish voters knew how teachers spend their "paid summer vacations."

    Life goes on~
~so many wonderful things happening, and some old memories from friends in the past, cooking from amazing places. This sunday will be the 4th anniv of my mothers passing. Partly why I am staying at my sisters. We are planning on getting a helium balloon and writing messages of love and heartfelt emotions on it to our mother, and legal or not~~letting it go~~floating into the heavens where her soul can be kissed by our wishes and tears. Just part of the healing process that takes place. Tho we have great memories, photo's and thoughts that send us into fits of laughter about her "ways"....we still grieve her sudden passing from renal cell carcinoma. Then, I board a plane for home on monday~~back to reality.

    Sorry about your Mom

    My

    Happy anniversay Mimi!!!

    My weekend...

Friday nite my son surprised hubby and I by pulling up in a Mercedes limo. Apparently he and a couple of buddies formed an LLC and are trying to get started in the limo business. Now mind you the day before my son borrowed $20 bucks for gasoline and went 'shopping' in our pantry...so I am not sure how this all works out...but I had my first limo ride listening to Bob Dylan and stopping at the custard stand.

Saturday took my daughter and grandbaby shopping. Baby Jordan latched onto a pale green thong (mind you she is 18 months old) and would not let go...MINE MINE MINE!! I ended up buying them and adding them to a wedding present I was wrapping later in the day. Then I headed over to the bride to be home for a flower making party. She wanted all tissue paper flowers for ceremony. When I was dx in feb. I asked to be given the job of making flowers to keep my head and hands busy....I made about 400 over the past 5 months...and today a group of us wrapped it up by making another 50 ivory ones. I never want to make another tissue paper flower! But the company was good and the wedding is next week...

Tonite relaxing watching burn notice with hubby who is nursing a blown disc in his neck. Don't get me started about the difference between male and female patients...

Tomorrow...my kids coming over for omelets for breakfast and going to do some biking on a nearby rails to trails bike path...maybe Funny People later in the day.

    Feeling good and content tonite...
