Request for a VIRTUAL INTERVENTION with my wife Moopy
Moopy needs to buy herself new shoes. The shoes she has been wearing practically every day are hurting her toes, and sometimes make her back sore. Pretty soon, she will resume accompanying the pups and me on our walks. She knows this, but so far all she has done is make a few short visits to local shoe stores. Where, predictably, she doesn't find anything perfect and walks out.
Please help Moopy, ladies. And if I have ever said anything helpful or supportive or amusing on this board, please help me. I know Moopy has had a rough run with the chemo, but she really, really, really needs to buy herself new shoes. I've run out of strategies and I'm at my wits' end. I'll buy her the damned furniture already, but first she needs new shoes.
Please help Moopy. Please help me. I beg you.

Try it, you'll like it
You should know by now we don't need to be begged to say what we think.
I got a pair of Easy Spirit shoes two or three years ago and love them. I had to have something that didn't tie. The pair I got is no longer on their site but the Astra is close. Here is the site- http://www.easyspirit.com/ They actually have a lot on sale now. I like trying on my shoes first and bought mine at JCPenney's. I need shoes with lots of support.0 -

NEW SHOES, NEW SHOES, NEW SHOES, NEW SHOES, NEW SHOES. This is subliminal messaging. NEW SHOES, NEW SHOES, NEW SHOES. Tell me if it works.
Seriously Moopy, what girl doesn't want new shoes. And if yours are hurting, it is long past time. Get shoes, several pairs. Go for it!!

Not to scare you, but....
Because chemo causes neuropathy, especially in the feet/toes, it is ESSENTIAL, my dear, to have COMFORTABLE footwear that does not bind!!!!
Ask the gals who have permanent neuropathy (no feeling at all, or just tingles in their feet)...

Thank you, my dear friends, I will get new shoes. Just tiring to try them on. Whereas, with furniture, all I have to do is sit! Wouldn't it be nice to have a personal shopper?
Thanks, Marcia, for the Easy Spirit recommendation and info. JCP, here I come.
Stef, your post reminds me of the **** and Jane post you wrote a while back. I learned to read with **** and Jane! I thought your post was fun, as they often are.
Love you all,

Kathi, thank you for your post. I actually have had some neuropathy in my legs/feet. Did not think about shoes. I guess it is definitely worth using what energy I have today to get some shoes.
By the way, it is so nice to see you and Hans. You have been through so much, separately and together. It is good to see you smiling and happy and healthy.0 -

Moopy ... repeat after me ... I WILL get new shoes, I WILL get new shoes, I WILL get new shoes!

While it is summer (sort of) and you can go barefoot a lot ... cooler/wetter weather will be in the forcast and you need SHOES!
Like Jackie ... I live in Crocs ... but I'm sure you can find something you will like and that will feel comfy on your feet. So ... go shopping!
Now ... for the real PUSH in the shoe saga ...Moopy ... you already know how lucky you are to have Joe ... and you know how wonderful he's been through all of this with you ... and he would do anything in the world for you ... right? So ...now it's time for you to do something for HIM. GO GET SOME NEW SHOES! It will make him very happy.
hugs.

Ok, Moopy........
I must say that nobody ever had to "encourage" me to go shopping! But girl, you have got to have comfortable shoes to wear!
Now, I know that shopping of any kind can be exhausting, even when feeling well. But this is not a frivolity. This is a necessity.
And if you are not feeling well, don't be shy about sitting your keester down in a wheelchair as you hit the mall and ask hubby to chauffeur you right into the shoe store.
We all love you and want you to take care of yourself. So put your best foot forward! And get some shoes!
hugs for you,
CR0 -
shoes wonderful shoes
Moopy, hurry and get those shoes. I concur I had problems with my feet during and after chemo, ended up with planters flacitis which is rather painful. Take your time shopping for them and enjoy it, perhaps you two could shop for shoes, take a break for lunch then shop for shoes again. Take care Moopy!

Ah, you're playing hardball, Teena! I guess that spouse of mine does deserve not to fret. See, guilt works!tgf said:SHOES !!!!

I really, really like the sneaker couple, by the way. How can I resist?0 -
I would like to echo the
I would like to echo the encouragement to buy shoes..but also understand how tired making that kind of decision can be...but wanted to address another aspect of this thread....
Joe...You are truly an awesome partner...and certainly no heel. How brave of you to expose such an extreme and disturbing dynamic going on in your household. I know of some soleful support groups for women and husbands of those women who have more shoes than they know what to do with...I have to believe that somewhere there are women who need encouragement to buy shoes...you may need to go beyond the US borders...
Good luck to you both during this difficult time...0 -
Those are good ideas; we can take breaks, and the mall does have chairs. Joe had plantar fascitis, and I saw how painful it is. I hope that your feet are fine now, Re.RE said:shoes wonderful shoes

This pic was actually between my 2 cancers...I was in a fashion show with my treatment center..my hair was without grey...(I'LL never tell how...lol!). We used to get "Now, does your daughter (me) want to do this, too?" Lucky for Hans, after my hair came back, grey and dark brown, I decided not to color it....ROFL!!!
BUT, the smiles now are the same as the smiles in this pic!

Hi Moopy,
I agree with Joe,go out and buy yourself some new shoes. I know how hard it can be to find just the right kind. I have very wide feet, I live in New Balance sneakers. Mine even have a little pink ribbon on the tongue. I bought them long before I was diagnosed kind of wierd huh. You can even buy them online if you choose. New Balance and Easy Spirit are the only brand I can slip right into and wear without weeks of trying to break them in. Good Luck.

Moopy - RETAIL THERAPY must commence!
Starting with new shoes!
As other posters here have already stated, during and after chemo - and to this day - I cannot cheap out on shoes. Comfort and support are essential! And cheap shoes simply do not provide either feature. Thank goodness nowadays really good supportive shoes can be cute & fashionable, too.
I also totally understand the exhaustion aspect of shopping for shoes, specifically. A couple of tops & a hoodie - simple! You know your size, pick a style & color off the rack, pay - outta there! Easy! Joe, you gotta help her. Moopy - you must get to a real shoe store/shoe department where there's STAFF to assist you. Don't go to the "self serve" places - too tiring right now. Pick a WHOLE BUNCH of styles, then sit down in a chair, and have the staff bring the shoes to you! Might be good to start with a good pair of walking shoes...
Moopy, dear - you really DO NEED a new and GOOD pair of shoes! Especially if you're gonna start walking with Joe & the dogs again - you know, getting out & about a little more.
Best of luck to you, as you take this first step (lame pun?) towards RETAIL THERAPY! Then, on to the sofa shopping!!! Hey, you had BETTER get new shoes before you even attempt sofa shopping - furniture stores can be huge! And if your feet are hurting - how will you be able to tell if the NEW SOFA is comfortable?
Kind regards, Susan0 -
I'm wearing a PURPLE t-shirt today!Moopy23 said:Those are good ideas; we can take breaks, and the mall does have chairs. Joe had plantar fascitis, and I saw how painful it is. I hope that your feet are fine now, Re.
Thank you both, and for your hugs, too. (Purple is my favorite color, by the way.)
Actually, it's one of two I have from the ACS Relay for Life events I've attended.

Moopy, my dear, when I need new shoes whether uggs or strappy sandles, I go to Zappos.com. They are just the best!!!
No problem with returns--They pay shipping both ways--AND--they are fast!! Mine arrive in one day usually. Go ahead, take a look--order several pair--and return what doesn't suit you. Believe me, you CAN'T go wrong!! I've even sold my sweet hubbie on them. Have fun--Big hug--Cheryl0 -
