My daughter Stephanie's lawsuit settled...
I received word today that it settled. I should be jumping for joy. Instead, I have mixed emotions. It's the turning of another page. I hope that the suit brought an awareness to the facility and their holding company...so that this won't happen again. I am relieved that I don't have to appear in court, but then, on the other hand, I feel badly that I couldn't tell the world what it lost when she died. She was a loving child, quick to smile, when she was 'on'. I miss her terribly.
Thanks for listening,
Hugs, Kathi

Sorry
Kathi, I did not know about your daughter. I am very sorry. This is indeed a turning point. I imagine that while the lawsuit was active it was sort of like you were still looking out for her in a way. I can see why this would be bitter sweet news.
You are in my thoughts.Eil0 -
Kathi, there are no words
Kathi, there are no words that I can say that would express how sorry I am for your loss. Hopefully, the facility will make much needed changes and insure that this doesn't happen again. Sending much needed hugs your way, Lili0 -
This must be very difficult.
This must be very difficult. Working on your daughters case for so long and now it's over must leave an empty spot. My heart goes out to you. I'm sending you a big hug.

Lili, I am sending hugs back to you as well. I hold on to the hope that this facility will learn something from this...the nurse who called me with the news of Stephanie's passing was so rude, it broke my heart. I hope he gets straightened out...these dear souls are so helpless and at the mercy of their caregivers.

Thank you, Jan, for the warm thoughts. I was lucky to find a lawyer that took care of things for me, and was as horrified as I was as to the things that caused her death. He worked very hard...and earned his money!

Sweet Kathi~
With your post, you absolutely DID tell the world about your loving daughter. As someone once so eloquently said, "there may a legal system, but not so much a justice system". I know that you probably wanted to stand on the judge's bench and tell the world who she was, and what you lost. But Kathi, I dare say, you and Hans aside, perhaps no one but your sisters in arms here on CSN know the pain you are feeling. Of course I don't mean that literally, as all of us have a different story, but Kathi~ could you possibly find a more empathetic group of Kindred Spirits anywhere????? And this is an International Site!!! The love you feel for your amazing daughter shines through brightly!
Your words, your love, your life, your sadness, your triumphs, your beautiful daughter has touched all of us through you. Thank you for sharing her with us~ even in a sad time. We love you.
Take time to exhale.....you and yours are loved and cared for.
Hugs,

Peace to you, Kathi
I cannot imagine how this must feel, Kathi. I send thoughts of peace and love to you. You have helped me so much in the short time that I've corresponded with you on this board, that I can imagine what a great mom you are and how much you have hurt for your daughter. I hope it is some comfort to you that your actions may have helped others in that facility.
