Happy belated mother's day to all!  An update from my journey.  Great news about lymph nodes being clear!  I had one set (aortic) that had 90% evidence of UPSC.  My oncologist says that UPSC is aggressive BUT is also very susceptible to chemo.  I had a medi-port placed this morning to aide with chemo.  My first of 6 chemo treatments is tomorrow.  I have a kitchen table full of medication to assist with possible side effects.  I'm going this afternoon with my husband and daughter to a chemo class.

I'm super nervous but hopeful that my experience with chemo will be bearable.

I have become very verbal with female friends and co-workers about uterine symptoms. My uterine mass was embedded in the myometrium.  This was a very important piece of information that could not be known without a CT scan.  Since I was only given a sonogram, it delayed knowing the size and location of the mass.  I recommend to all that they insist on a CT as it is much more diagnostic.

Continue being physically active. Funny enough it is the best thing you can do for fatigue. I walked a ton in the parks away from crowds and I think it helped me tolerate the chemotherapy.

I had a visit with my oncologist today to get the the pathology results. He gave me the first good news in so many days: it is in the earliest stage it could be; he said it is even earlier than stage 1A. He said it was confined to only one polyp spot in my uterus. He recommended three sessions of chemo due to the type of cancer (Serous Carcinoma), which he said is aggressive, and then just close monitoring after that. He said the chemo will be Taxol and what sounded like Carboplatin. I am a little terrified of the chemo side effects, but it shall pass. I am counting my blessings. My husband and I celebrated the good news and went out to dinner tonight. Thank you all for your support and prayers.   

 

Sissa, that is such great news! Don't worry about the rest. Chemo is definitely doable. You got this!

That is great news Sissa! This type of cancer can spread very quickly. It sounds like you were able to catch it pretty fast.  I just had that same cocktail of chemo for my first round. You will get medication to help with symptoms.  They are totally managable.

I have the same diagnosis but stage IIIc2 so will need 6 treatments plus radiation.  Keep us posted on when you will start treatment.

That is great news.  I also am stage 1A UPSC.  Mine was microscopic,  dr told me I was in my "own class."   I too had 3 rounds of carbo/taxol and so far 2 checkups with my 3rd coming up the end of this month.  It is good you came back to get that 2nd opinion.

7 days after first chemo, I am having weird pounding pain, on and off, in my chest bone (sternum) and lower back bone. It flares up depending on body position. I am able to control the pain with Tylenol. Have you had such bone pain at different spots of the body like that? Do the side effects go away after a certain period following a chemo sesstion?

 

  

A friend of mine had the back pain after chemo like you are describing.

Days 2-5 after each infusion my knees hurt terribly,  and muscle cramps in my legs.   I had very itte sleep those days.  Then it would go away until the next round of chemo.  My oncologist and the pharmacist said only low dose Tylenol,  it never did touch the pain.  I find Ibuprofen is more effective for me, although this was on the do not take during chemo list as it effects blood counts and could delay the next round of chemo.  Even though it is painful, I found getting up and moving helped relieve some of the pain so I drank lots of water to flush the toxins out of my body and walked 6 days a week while on chemo, and took short walks throughout the day. Hang in there.  

Little Annie had extremely painful bone pain....knees, ankles, lower back, and leg pain all in the bone....tylenol did nothing.....ibuprofen was better and at time the pain was so great that oxycodone had to be used.   Hate to say it but with each infusion the pain lasted longer.   But with only three cycles, it is definately doable.   Good luck.
