We have he best donut shop here!

My son went right after xmas.  There was a writeup from one of the foodies from New York.  There ended up being an30 minus wait!  Well worth it for me...  so I had him get a dozen, I use to go 2-3 times a month when I was driving so no big deal.  He said who is ill eat all of them They were gone the next morning.  It was 8 chocolate bars and 4 maple, and the extra was a cherry chip!

Sure wish they were open Sundays,  but the lines have stayed that high so.... I have to hit him up on a good day! Lol.  When I was working we got them once a week and it was dozens, people would take a donut and throw in the buck.

Reason for working????  We need donuts

Glad to see the post sugar, or sugar post!

Well, for me, it is a little different. The first thing said when the insurance from the fire was settled was " WE CAN HAVE SUSHI NOW!!!" But I am very glad you have access to quality satisfaction of your cravings. This is very important!

My world may be smaller but there is uni in it, and hamachi and loving emailed pictures of all of it from my San Francisco part of the family where the product is top of the line. My only regret is that it is difficult to do a care package of that stuff and here I settle for what the locals think is fish bait.  Oh well Tuesday I will be able to ditch the matzoh and dive into The Don's garlic bread again.

This is a good day Ninja! Love ya

    Thanks and Happy Easter everyone!

I use to love San Fran.  We hadn't been for a while.  About 1997, my sister who lives in Sacramento (Fair Oaks-Folsom area), took our kids.  I was so excited getting the freah soup , crab, bread right on the pier, or go in the restaurant then we were going to take the boat tour to Alcatraz.

It was a bummer.  It had been a long time since I was there.  It was all rebuilt and was like going to any new pier or little shopping area along the newer areas of the coast.   Food was still good just atmosphere was different.  So we drove home and stopped at the Jelly Belly factory and stocked up on the deformed jelly bellies!   See sweets again.

SF is still unique, however, I still prefer the warmer beaches and water of Souhern CA on down!  That is one of my fav Eastera with my sister, and going to Height Ashbury, no parking so we couldn't even go into the shops.

Hope everyone had a Blessed Easter.  I am back on low dose steroids and the s/e kicked in again which means not sleeping  and the heavy sweet cravings!

    Hugs to all,Carol

    Defending SF

I have to tell you Ninja.

Our 1st apartment was in the Haight. BUT my favorite job ever was as the controller for a group of art galleries and my office was on the wharf on the 2nd floor and looked out on Alcatraz all pinkish-orange in the early morning light!! My son would bring his friends to see and I had a key to the roof and we all would go up there for July 4th fireworks and for fleet week.  I watched them tape that detective on a houseboat show (forgot the name and he had an old yellow Mustang) outside my office and really wanted the food they served the actors set out on a buffet table.

Crab and Boudin bread bowls were across our corner in Giardelli Sq. So now you see part of the reason my son won't leave his home town but he loves to travel. It isn't that built up really cause they do it right and it still fits the feel of the place.

Do I have to tell you about tolerating SA? I wish I could show you some meditation techniques. Very handy when combatting that stuff and the symptoms of my brain tumors until the surgery. I don't know if it would work, maybe a little. I think I just want to feel I could help you in some way.

Try for a good day my friend.

    Dear Carol,

I thought about you today as I listened to the CD you sent me a few years ago.  It eased my drive in traffic.

Popping in and bumping you back on top

Well, the perfect weather has returned. I'm enjoying it now because even though I'm told there's no such thing as global warming, I believe otherwise. The last few summers have been hot and humid and paradise is just not supposed to be hot and humid.

Hoping you're having some great moments in some good days.

YOU are doing the climbing now!

You are keeping yourself on top!!  Love seeing you getting down to others. It puts some normalcy back in the world. So when the tympani drum starts banging in my ear ( it stops after a couple days, from jaw mess from craniotomy) I can feel like, well Carol would do what? She is there to ask.

    HOW WONDERFUL IS THAT!?!?!?!?!?!

More good days to you love

Just had a few words for the other support group.

one only posts about her fun activities and made it clear that a support group is a not for negative people.  This is the least n hat I've group ever. Vents about procedures, losses, scared about upcoming testing.  These are all very normal for anyone who has gone thru chemo, rads, surgeries, med, the s/e from the meds and the new s/e to take care of the last ones....  how it just goes at times. Then the losses you suffer when it hits your organs, brains bones, some have perm baldness and have vented, me being the unique Bergson only have 3 bald shots from brain rads on my right frontal lobe shapes like a triangle with a hair karishener pencil size stip of hair!  So I had it trimmed down to the sSsy pixie, so I have about 3/8  inch of hair on spots of the bald side and the left side is about 2 inches again... with my pencil size strip! But it is now curls.... so much for the sassy pixie, looks more like I took the dog clipper.

i don't complain about that, a couple times I have vented when it was something not so important like. No Christmas...(my time would be up)  probably not an option, or no, you do need to go to 225mg Fentanyl, pluus the pain pump and the dilauded.

Being told no way to Christmas, so I goodwilled most of my summer clothes.... that was in August.  This is a young women's group. So many under 30(40)% all bc only, hardest is so many have kids 2 yrs old on up.  Who cares about the clothes!

This is A gal who has not had bc, but brca 2 in genes.  Glad she had the surgery. But goes on about being a survivor, we need to change our diets, and special workouts.  How can someone who has not had rads or chemo be telling others to change doctors, what they should do, eat, drink, need to start hiking, and pay for a private trainer.

These women have kids, have not been well enough to work, do not have the money Manley single parents and quite ill from the treatments.   See's no reason why we all shouldn't be doing yoga etc...  Well I, like many can't reach feet or floor, have tumors on my knees and ankle, spline hips lungs and brain.  Hold on...  I will run down and meet you.  Actually I am no longer invited.  When I couldn't hike, I was removed from her social group.  Then I refused company wh n I was sick and she came anyways, asked them to leave as I was pretty sick 102+ fever.  Well some

others stopped, and they didn't stay!!!

After a bit I responded and explained that we don't know how to support people if we don't know what they are having real issues with.  What I really think is she needs a social club, it sounds like supporting others or helping those who are upset are not part of the program, and sadly for the ones who need the help, she has no

But don't call someone asking for help negative.  There is so much more than that!  Of course we have all experinced the few on this site over the years who have been cranky and negative with most every response, a few

who just jumped down someone's throats or constantly corrected anyone who had different experiences than they did with a treatment, but we th the exception of one or two, they never stayed around for any length of time.

Honestly this is really a positive group, a few have vented about a treatment, or over family or friends who pulled away, loses both physically and financially, and a good percentages with very young kids are afraid of them losing their mommy!  Then to read where someone in the group doesn't need to always hear negative people need to join a social club or bowling group!

For y ars I wanted to b liege that people in the group would

catch on and about 90% did and I so enjoy.  It took a while honestly for me to respond. I didn't want to hurt feelings. Then I did and wasn't blown away at how many felt the same and were

    hurt so many times!

    Let's Compare

We should compare brain rad hair results. I had my long hair somewhat on one side so when the docs came around I had a very jazzy pony tail on the top/side of the bare part.  hee hee They loved it.

All that you said above so perfect.  How much of that has gone through our thoughts over and over over these years here usually triggered by someone's comment or my own situation. I could embelish some of what you said but then I would REALLY get kicked off as some priceless people here found out.

Looks like I missed you by only 20 min or so. Sleep? Really? There is such a thing???? Lowe's guys coming at 8am tommorow to measure for a refrigerator ( bless that burned down house with great insurance!) So I just told The Don let me sleep and throw the dog in with me instead of regulating him to the garage. Peeps afraid of shepherds even our Axel

I think I am truely going to sleep tonite!

    Is this a felony?

Is burning your house down to get the money to pig out on lox and bagels and sushi a bad thing to do?

Amazing what becomes a luxury ain't it Ninja? And look how many cultures utilized in this message!  I count 3. How about you?

No pain over the line today love. please.

    hurt so many times!

It is her loss, not yours...

I consider myself new here.  I never expected to be in such a group.  Did any of us?  NO.  I have cancer and it sucks!  When I was first diagnoised, I did not want to talk to anyone.  I liked the color pink but after my doctor told me I had breast cancer, I suddenly hated that color with a passion.  I wanted nothing to do with anything that color represented.  Someone told me about the site and the Pink Ladies and I thought, "well for Pete's sake, why would anyone want to join such a thing.  I would not go to it and I would not look at it and I sure as hell was not going to particiapte in it!"  I would not wear pink.  Someone bought me a pink ribbon and because I was raised with manners, I smiled said thank you and later, threw it in a drawer.  Later, I quit my pouting and painfully engaged in the fight and it was then that I knew I needed this site.

I am thankful for this group.  It has educated me, encouraged me and humbled me.  There has been times when I was extremely sad and you all have lifted me up.  There were many times (and probably will me more) where I may have spoke out of turn or with complete ingnorence, and beleive it or not, grouchy.  Most ladies here, have been there and done that, yet they remain compassionate, patient and forgiving.  I feel very fortuante to have the pink ladies to turn to.

So if someone comes to this group expecting all glitter and glamor they should go somewhere else because this is not always going to be about smiles and sunshine.  If it was, then kick me out of this group now because I need what is real.

Carol, you keep it real.   Like so many people on here, you are a true warrior and I am honored to even be a speck in your life.

    Hugs,

    Annie

    Up Day

Having an up day and wanted to pass it on to you. Happiness is a full box of kleenex and good coffee and SE. Love my little allergy, hence the kleenex. It's a spring thing from the new trees. But we are out of critter food and I think Rocky and Rockette both have babies to feed, so it's off to the feed store.

I have a niece about 30, who had a terrible accident and is in awful shape but will be ok. It was weird that my experiences allowed me to plow through the insipid stuff her friends were saying to her on FB and stuff. I sent a real email and she responded...it totally blew her away! We know Sensei, we know. Unfortunately, we know. The sword always has 2 edges.

Have a good one today luv
