Tough times
Hello everyone
Going through some tough times. My mom was scheduled for chemo and developed an infection and a blood clot. Things are not going well. She did have chemo today but there is a good chance she won't pull through. This disease is very difficult to fight if you are elderly. Too many complications. Thank you to everyone for the last few months of encouragement. It made a difference.
Much love
Emily

Hi Emily
I'm sorry your mom and you are having a tough time. I know it's hard right now but this site is full of hope and proof miraculous things happen. Sending warm hugs and positive energy to you and your mom. I'm sure many others will join in on those thoughts.
The site has been really slow since the upgrade and many of us are having problems just getting on. Please know our thoughts are with you and we are here for you.

Positive Energy
Dear Emily, I am so sorry for all you are going through. I probably missed one of your posts. How old is your mom?
There are always ups and downs. Right now you and your mom is having a rough patch. Some patients do very well with chemo, others do not. Please don't assume it's the end. Perhaps the doctor's will give your mom a new cocktail. I understand the chemo given the elderly is less toxic.
Positive energy and prayers. Maggie

Maggie, My mom is 82. They have decided to change her coctail. Something less toxic and given ever 28 days. However, it is most likely too late. On December 26, her oncologist decided she was strong enough to receive chemo (r-CVP) They set her date up for January 3. I was not happy that they were waiting a whole week, but I'm not a doctor. As the days went on, I noticed she was getting a little tired. Then, 2 days before her scheduled chemo, we were told she had to have it as an inpatient due to insurance (she was currently in a rehab center). Now we had to wait for a bed. She was finally admitted on Friday, Jan. 4. When she got admitted, they started to find some problems. After a cat scan, they found a blood clot on the right pulmonary artery. From there she aslo had an infection. By monday things got worse. She is now in ICU. They gave her a new chemo, but she is not awake. The ICU doctor spoke to us and told us there is a very good chance she will not survive this. Her lymphoma is very rare and aggressive. With her age, even though she had a perfect health record prior, make it very difficult for her to fight.
Watching my mom suffer is the most difficult thing I have ever gone through. Also, watching my father is just so sad. Thank you for the positive energy. We will need to stay strong.

I began with a poor prognosis and dropped to very poor after an immediatel relapse. But, that was four years ago and providence has a way of stepping in. Prayers ascending on her behalf.

Your story is an insipriation to all. I wish my mom was younger. I am happy she had a good healthy life. Your prayers a very much appreciated.

Emily:
It is difficult to get on this website. I have set the Lymphoma list of titles page with an icon. Works a little better.
Try to stay positive. I know it is difficult. I got a diagnosis of B Cell Lymphoma in early May
of 2012.
Am doing better. Having Rituxan infusions. It is scary being older and having to fight this.
I am sending you positive thoughts.

tough times
Emily-
I join the others in sending you prayers. Been thinking about you and your mom all week. I'm a fairly new member of this site but I am already incredibly touched by the strength, courage, and compassion of this group. Just know that (as everyone has said) you are not alone. We are all right in there with you- take care, Erin

Hi Nancy,
Thank you for the positive thoughts. My mom was diagnosed October 22 with B cell lymphoma (intravascular) very rare and in the blood. Also stage 4 because it is in the Bone Marrow. It is causing alot of problems. Blood is clotting, calcium is dangerously high, sodium went very low, etc. My mom receives her chemo approximately every 4 weeks or so. Because of her age, they try and push it out a bit. As soon as they go to the 4th or 5th week, the cancer starts causing all kinds of problems. The doctors explained that at her age it is common that they do not get through their treatment. I will try my best for myself and my family to keep as positive as possible. She was very healthy before this. Never had anything, We shall see.
I hope you are feeling well. Hugs, Emily
