Emily-
I join the others in sending you prayers. Been thinking about you and your mom all week. I'm a fairly new member of this site but I am already incredibly touched by the strength, courage, and compassion of this group. Just know that (as everyone has said) you are not alone. We are all right in there with you- take care, Erin
Hi Erin,
Thank you so much for your prayers. It has been a rough 3 months not to mention the shock when we found out about her cancer. I'm sure everyone felt the same way. Just being able to post my feelings and what my mom and my family are going through makes a difference. I can't thank everyone enough for all their prayers and postive thoughts.
I read your profile and your story truly is amazing. I was happy to read how wonderful things turned out for you. I volunteer time for an orgainzation that helps families with sick children. We raise money to help with the financial burden of a sick child. We see teenagers with cancers very often. It is nice to hear when they are cured and we were a part of that.
All the best,
Emily

Maggie, My mom is 82. They have decided to change her coctail. Something less toxic and given ever 28 days. However, it is most likely too late. On December 26, her oncologist decided she was strong enough to receive chemo (r-CVP) They set her date up for January 3. I was not happy that they were waiting a whole week, but I'm not a doctor. As the days went on, I noticed she was getting a little tired. Then, 2 days before her scheduled chemo, we were told she had to have it as an inpatient due to insurance (she was currently in a rehab center). Now we had to wait for a bed. She was finally admitted on Friday, Jan. 4. When she got admitted, they started to find some problems. After a cat scan, they found a blood clot on the right pulmonary artery. From there she aslo had an infection. By monday things got worse. She is now in ICU. They gave her a new chemo, but she is not awake. The ICU doctor spoke to us and told us there is a very good chance she will not survive this. Her lymphoma is very rare and aggressive. With her age, even though she had a perfect health record prior, make it very difficult for her to fight.
Watching my mom suffer is the most difficult thing I have ever gone through. Also, watching my father is just so sad. Thank you for the positive energy. We will need to stay strong.
With your mother currrently unconscious, it may be that your most charitable course of action at the moment is to focus on your father. From being severely ill myself twice in the past, I learned later that in many ways my loved ones had a harder time than I did. Also, my mom was sent home ten years ago with terminal dementia following numerous strokes. They said that she should pass within a day or so, but she fought (unconscious the whole time) for 11 days. It was an agony every minute, for her and us around her. It took us months to begin to recover. It is critical that you take an occasional break for your own well-being.
I know that many of us pray daily for the needs of all of the sick discussed here,
Max

My sister and I have been sleeping at the hospital and send my dad home. We also want him to stay with one of us.
Last night when I came I noticed she started to wake up. Her calcium is better and her infection is under control. I'm
Hoping she can get through this. Maybe all your prayers worked.

Hi Emily,
As with others I also have had a hard time connecting to the site...hence the delay in responding to various posts. I'm so sorry your mom is having a rough go with treatment. CVP-R is one of the milder chemo's and the one I was given. I'm 20 years younger than your mom though, so I imagine it is not as easy as we get older. I will keep your mom in my prayers and think positive thoughts that her situation may turn out better than the doctors say. Keep the faith Emily and remember we are here for you. Much love...Sue

Thank you Sue. It has been very rough this week being the worse one yet. I'm trying to keep the faith for my family and especially my dad. She was getting some blood today. she was very tired today and slept most of the time. Her cancer being in the blood makes it very difficult to control. I think the new drug they are using might last longer. Thank you so much for the kind words. Everyone's prayers mean so much to me.
Love Emily
