My Husband Lost His Battle - Father's Day 6/17/12
Sunday morning he woke me pointing at his throat/neck indicating he couldn't breathe. We tried to suction, while dialing 911. The suctioning didn't work and he went to the ground. While on phone with 911 I did mouth-to-mouth and air was coming back at me so I knew he had some sort of blockage in his throat that was cutting off the airway. Parameds were there within 5 minutes and they worked on him a long time. They transported him to the hospital but he was gone when they left here with him.
Doctor had hospital said no airway, following by cardiac arrest. I have asked myself a zillion times if he hadn't had the trache taken out would that have made a difference. Doc examined him and we saw on the screen he had a decent airway. I guess we will never know - could have been scar tissue build up, swelling, who knows.
I guess God was ready for him to go home. I believe his cancer was not gone and he was being spared the nasty road that was laying ahead of him.
Everyone here is so kind and supportive during treatment and after. It is such a place of comfort.
We are doing ok, sad, tired and trying to wrap our arms around the fact that he is gone.

it is a good thing he was at home
It was sad to hear about your news, I must admit that it is always in the back of my mind that I could also die from this. I hope you take some consolation that you had an opportunity to be with him and love him all throughout your shared ordeal. Thanks for sharing and being an example of love and support.0 -

Love sent...
Hello,
Thank you for sharing this very private hurt with us. I too was with my mother when she lost her battle with this demon. Way different...we knew she was leaving us. The words I'm so sorry doesn't qualify as a good enough response. In my heart and soul I feel for you and your family. May God lift you up and make the road a little easier to travel. Warmest regards, Katie0 -
So Very Sorry....
I'm so very sorry to hear the loss of another warrior from our family here....
Each time I see news like this it takes a little piece of me away.
The consolation is that he will be always with you, loving you and with you every day. The memories you have, the thoughts that you shared, the life that you have lived, the family that you have.....he is with you.
Prayers,
John0 -

Sorry
I'm sorry to hear your loss. Although it may be hard for you to tell the story, it is instructive for the rest of us to hear it. You and your husband are in my prayers. Rick.0 -

I cannot think of much to say with such a huge loss. My deepest sympathy to you and yours. Just like John said, it takes a little bit of us when one of our own losses the battle.
God Bless,

That hurts to hear your news. All of us here are just like your husband, we have battled the beast (though your husband obviously is very tough to have fought 3 times)and when we hear we have lost one , it does take away a piece of our heart as well.
I pray peace and comfort for you. Three times? Your husband is certainly my hero.
I am sorry for you loss.
Sincerely,
Tim0
