I was diagnosed at 61, May 5, 2011. My last tx was August 15th. My scans are all clear. At the time of diagnosis, I was very symptomatic with a lot of pain down my right leg, which I still have but the pain is managed by Lyrica now and it is not caused by cancer but from scar tissue which can be inflaming area with nerve related response. I was T2N1 with the tumor located South or 6:00. I think we here have sometimes slightly different symptoms based on the location of the tumor. For example I did not have the vaginal and urinary tract pain others had during treatment. Anyway, how many people can say they are feeling better this year than last at my age and expect to feel better than this next year? Yippeeee! Congratulations on your diagnosis. You are on your way to full and complete recovery. Word to the wise, it takes time, so try to be patient. Patience is not a virtue I come by easily.

    73 years young
My Mom was diagnosed at 73 and just finished the first, and hopefully last, round of treatment. She has so much spunk and is determined to laugh through as much of the bad stuff as possible. I made her a shirt that says "Cancer is a pain in the butt" with little butt cheeks below the writing. She proudly displayed it during her hospital stay and the nurses loved it. She has her first follow up appointment later this month . . .

She also had a non-malignant tumor removed ten years ago from her transverse colon.

Good luck to everyone as you battle through all of this!

I wish your mom all the very best! She sounds like the kind of person who can definitely beat this disease! Please continue to let us know how she's doing.

I was 63, am now almost 7 years out of treatment, due for follow up colonoscopy this month, only long term after affect of radiation is vaginal stenosis? My advice to anyone going into treatment is to be sure and ask your onocologist about dialators, mine didn't mention it until afterwards.

    Hi wje630!
Thanks for posting! The fact that you have been out of treatment for almost 7 years and are doing well sounds so good to me! I'm very happy for you!

That is awesome!!! I hope you continue to stay well.

I go back to the doctor to check "fissure" again at 3:45 today. I have to admit, the itching is improving...so I hope that means it really was a fissure. Surely if it was AC the itching wouldn't be improving? Right?

I replied to your message! No big party; my husband & I spent "grateful time" together! I was given the diagnosis on a friday, our daughter graduated from high school the next day, & our son got married the day after that. It was one heck of a weekend, I tell you!
