♥ Our honor-roll walk ♥
Since being diagnosed many of us are trying to lead a more active and healthy lifestyle. As I was on my walk this evening an idea struck me that might help motivate us to do more walking/running. For fun, lets keep track of the miles we walk/run as a group and see how far we can get by the end of summer. Maybe we can cross the country on foot?
While doing your walk/run dedicate the day in "honor of someone". That person can be a family member, a caregiver, a fellow pink warrior here on the board, a friend or neighbor or anybody else that's touched your heart.
Then when you tally up your miles, add them to the team total and then post who you walked for and tell us a little about them. I walk a lot, so don't be surprised to see each and every one of your names by the end of summer.
For those that don't keep track of miles and want to participate. Let's go with 20 minutes equaling one mile walked.
Happy Walking and lets see how far we get....
Lorrie

This afternoon I walked in
This afternoon I walked in honor of my beautiful Sister (in-law) Jane Miller. Jane was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloema about six years ago. She courageously fought for three years after receiving a stem cell transplant from my husbands donor blood cells. She taught me that life is worth living and fighting for, and we both miss her each and every day.
Group total to date: 3.5 miles0 -

I walk every day, and I do track my time -- but I'm not sure y'all want to see a post from me every single darn day, so I'll adapt your idea a little, Lorrie, and dedicate my week's worth of walks, then post my total at the end of the week.

and I, for one, will never forget that. As I recall, you walked a 5K all by yourself shortly after completing chemo and rad's, right?
You're so funnnnnny ..

Ok, so I had surgery on Tuesday (hysterectomy), and for my first outing I walked around the block on Saturday (just in front of my house). I did it holding my husbands arm/hand while my daughter was on a scooter and my son his bike...they would go ahead then come back over and over again.
It took me about 20 minutes to do this, but it was no where near a mile...:)
I'll get there eventually and be able to add to the total!! I really love this thread.
Total is still 26.6
OOPS...I forgot to say who I will be walking for, I will be walking for my Mother in Law who passed suddenly just over a year ago from acute leukemia...it was way too fast.0 -
