Hondo up-date
Just a little up-date on how I have been doing for the passed few Months.
It looks like I finally got rid of that sinus infection that has been hurting me for the passed 8 Months; I am feeling good and having very light headaches now. In March my PET scan came back with a spot lit up as another possible recurring NPC; not a problem as this has been my story for the passed 6 years of having PET scans.
I did have to make a trip to the E/R about 6 days ago due to pains in the chest on the right side over the lung. The Doc in the E/R room did a C/T and X-ray but could not find any problems, so they gave me some pain meds to take. I believe I have more pills then Walgreens has, wish I could sell some of it back to them. Anyway the pain is down to almost nothing, just not too sure what it was.
As most of you know I have been unable to open my Jaw more then ½ inch, I have been living this way for almost 5 years now because my Oncal doc did not think I would live very long so he gave me no therapy to help with the jaw movement. I have used every device and trick in the book to get it open and nothing has worked for me. That is up until now; I am now using the Dynasplint system, yes is cost a lot but I think I am worth spending a little money on myself. Anyway I started with an opening of about 15mm and in just a little more then 4 weeks I am now almost up to almost 20mm, that mean I can now open my mouth 5mm more then I have in the last 5 years. I can eat better and clean my teeth better now that it opens a little more, my goal is to get it open to 40mm and get my teeth fixed.
Also like all of us I still have the Good and Bad days, but my Good days have been very good days. I don’t why but when I am having my good days I feel a joy with in myself that I just can’t explain. It makes me so happy I start singing even though I don’t have a voice to sing with anymore. But every now and then for some unexpected reason I cry, it is when I am at places like MD Anderson and I see all the people there in need of help and I feel so useless to do anything. Or if one of my dear friends here on CSN is hurting I find myself crying. But then I also find I start praying for them even while crying asking my savior to be with them and help them to see through the dark valley that I have lived in for so many years. I need to go as I am starting to cry again and can’t see the key board very well; to you my family God bless and be with each and everyone of you.
Joel4 / Frank10g I am praying for you both everyday and pray that you will not have to live in that dark valley as log as I have, just remember there is always hope.
Take care all

I am really glad things are going better for you. You have been such an inspiration.
I am an emotional mess. I can go from "skipping" to crying in a breath. It is reassuring to know that I am not alone.
Hey man, so glad to hear that you got rid of that mother of all sinus infections.
Hondo I take great heart in knowing that you are praying for me.
Going through this I have been given a glimpse of how precious and fragile our health is. Not just life but health.
When you have been through the fire like you have and then have a day where you feel great it is no suprise that you would be overcome with emotion because you know firsthand how special those moments are.
Keep doing well and I love you brother!0 -

Glad some of your issues are getting better. I too go from happy to crying in a nano second some days too. I think we can all understand that.
Sending you much and you are always in my prayers.0 -
Welcome back!
Hey Hondo,
Welcome back! You sure have been through so much these past 5 years. But from what I've gotten out of reading your posts, you are a fighter, so please believe that there's some light at the end of the tunnel. I don't know if you remember me, but my husband Tom passed away a year ago on the 25th of March from lung cancer. So I was his caregiver, but only lasted 2 months.
I agree with you about feeling sad & crying when reading some of these posts. There are so many of us who have lost our spouses or who are fighting this damn disease and it does get depressing sometimes to read them. But all of us whether we have cancer or have cared for someone & lost them understand how each of us feel. Please Hondo, know that we're here for you and don't want you to give up. Please take care and keep working on getting your mouth open to 40mm!!! I know you can do it! Carole0 -
Thanks Hondo
So glad to hear the sinus infection is over. Great job with the jaw opener. It must be quite a difference and real solid progress. All kinds of fun foods can fit now huh? I get the good days/bad days thing. I seem to have good hours/bad hours some days. And then there's good weeks/bad weeks. Even good months/bad months now that I think about it. Nice to be here no matter what though. Always enjoy and appreciate your posts. Praying for you regularly. Nice to read they're answered.

Great to hear of the progress. Does make one wonder how well our systems are equipped to avoid such as infections, and the like, after all the rad damage. Seems our regualar Drs. should be especially aware of our post-treatment vulnerability to this sort of thing, and be more prone to giving us the antibiotics needed.
As for the crying thing- truly does sadden me to the hilt every time I've gone to see the Onco, and am sitting in the lobby with those who have active C. All of us can step into their shoes, as we have been there. But I also realize some of those people do not have H&N, and their C doesn't have the success rate of our H&N. And it really is a sad thing, but also a good thing to be there and feel for them. And a Prayer.
If any of us is deserving of a good break, Tim, it is you. And I hope Houston and your locals can help keep the physical for you moving Positively forward. Know the Lord is with you, now and forever.

I would love to have a photo of your skipping down the driveway in my office so when I feel sad I can look at it and smile.
Thanks

My daughter tells me it is some kind of hormone imbalance from the radiation treatment, but every time I get checked they can’t find any problems, so I guess I will going on as I am.
Thanks
