Hi Carlene,
we're both batting gold. 12 today for me too, down from 17. (Unlike you, I've never been lower than this.) Recently find myself feeling unusually depressed though. Don't know why, whether it's getting over a cold or chemo adding to it. Onc. said one more round of chemo (two weeks each with half strength of the carbo/taxol) then looking to have a PET scan. I've not had one of those before, only CT scans. Can't have MRI due to pacemaker inserted last year. May end up having the debulking surgery that you've had. Taking it a day at a time.
And a point at a time. 12 is good.
Keep it up
AussieMaddie
I am new. My pre-op CA 125 was 1150. Post-op 141. Did you all have really high levels to start? My Doctor says our goal is to get under 20. Will chemo make it go down? I am thinking of the CA125 as the scale when you are dieting. So happy to see results. Good news with your 12. Seven happens to be my favorite number....so that is what my goal would be.0 -

Susan...pre-op, my CA125 was 4,000. My goal was single digits, which I achieved during chemo, but since I have been out of treatment my number has inched up to 13 and is now at 12.
Chemo dropped my number like a rock. After 4 treatments, my CA125 was normal.
I wish we had as much control over the CA125 as we do the numbers on the scale.

just in tune with your body and what is going on. I can just about tell you all of mine too, and it has been 4 years. In any case I have a print out of all of them that I keep in my notebook that goes everywhere with me. Some docors will tell you it isn't the most important thing to worry about, BUT I guarantee it is one of the first questions they will ask you/or check when they look at your file.
Looks like your body is going to settle in at a 12 for your "norm". Mine is 7 (pre-dx) and during firstline dived to 4 for the whole time. I suspect that the low you get with firstline (providing it works) is lower than your norm. Not based on any report or anything I have read. Just a hunch.
You keep on rockin' that 12 Carlene! We need you around here.
Hugs,

You had a CA125 run before you were diagnosed? How cool. I wish I had. Then I would have a much better idea, I think, of what my true norm is.
You are correct....the chemo, if you're sensitive, slams the CA125 down to an abnormally low level. Virtually everyone's rises a bit, once they are off treatment for a few months.
Today my local gyn/onc tried to talk me into only having my CA125 run every 3 months, instead of every 30-60 days. I said, "If it's all the same to you, I think I'll just keep to the old schedule. I don't mind the inconvenience. Really, I don't."
So I'm going back to NYC in July, and then back to my local guy in August. I get another CT scan in July, and another pelvic in August. Yuk. I'd rather have 2 CT scans and NO pelvic exam. Unfortunately, that wasn't one of the options.
