    Treadmill
I invested in a treadmill, because I have NO bag .... so I need...bushes, trees, Portopotty, just in case I wear a diaper. LOL.
Treadmill is great, pu I-Pod on it or my spoken book and "voila" I walk at my own pace. When the weather is good I try to go outside.
When will this potty thing end? It is now 6 weeks after my operation?
    Hugs,
    marjan

i was on the treadmill at the gym today, they are great
    hi marjan,

i was living dangerously and left the nappy at home.
it does not look cool at this trendy gym.
nappuies are way to bulky under the tights.

my potty thing has got alot better after 4 weeks, i hope yours does to.

    hugs,

    dunno about walking
I'm feeling rather stiff now and I've had a soak in a hot tub already...we'll just have to see when I try to get out of bed ;-)

I've had a good harvest of mint, parsley, rhubarb, chard, bok choy, lettuce and spinach...raspberries, elderberries, onions and peas coming along well. I planted basil seedlings today and some cosmos yesterday. I'm trying to get the back half of the garden weeded so I can plant corn and bean seeds. Last year I never got to it because I was sick and this year that part of the garden is really over-run. As long as I only gaze upon the first half of the garden, it looks great!

    Be well,
    Janine

Planting flowers and finishing the garden.
Wow, you must have the green thumb. I too worked all day gardening. It has been too cold and wet to see much growth. Yesterday, 84 degrees in Northern Minnesota and today cold wet 57 degrees for the high. What a shocker. Today, I am inside instead of outside in the cold rain. My nueropathy doesn't like cold or wet. Our normal is usually in the 70's for a high of the day. Hope the plants can take it. I know I am staying inside and drinking warm drinks for the nueropathy in my hands and feet. They said this has been the most extreme in 23 years.

Good Pete ! mike and others!
It's been 3 days just doing nothing !, not good weather in the weekend and feeling tired today, even that I been shopping with my wife for a couple of hours! Really tired !.
Get fun, get healthy keep walking !

When I felt my worst, I
When I felt my worst, I tried to get out and walk a couple of blocks. That usually ended in me taking several laps around the block. (Fear of being to far from the toilet and house, etc...) I always felt better after the walk then before. I took naps after my walks because of exhaustion, but never regretted it. The dogs always slept with me too.

Get out and do your best. The fresh air, change of mind set, etc... is a world of good to one's psyche.

My prayers are with you for a speedy recovery, Pepe.

    Best Always, mike

    lovelly post and inspiring
    dear gracie and all exercisers,

    keep us all inspired.

been to the gym with the kids twice over the weekend, did 10 25 meter laps one day and maybe 8 the next. just think that i am towing two kids. makes it a bit harder. my stoma wound has almost most totally healed.

went to the gym today, managed 5km on the treadmill with 3 loo breaks.

for me a reasonable treadmill workout is 7 mets in an hours. so thats only 4 good workouts per week to total 28 met houts which is the required amount to get the 53% recurrance prevention. a few extra mets won't hurt.

life is so difficult with the reconnection. i am obsessed with getting lean. i am 101kg today.loosing about 2 kg per week i think.

    hug,
    pete

did 3 km at the gym while kids did swimming lessons
    worked up a good sweat.

on the treadmill i raise the incline to 15 degrees and 6km/h i get 10.5 mets/hour

    just an exercise tip.

the guys next to me running flat about 10km/h gets 10.5 mets/hour

basically the same cardio workout calories burnt except up hill technique is kinder on joints.

this means i can get 7.5 mets by doing 45 min workout. so to get the 28 mets a week for the 53% risk improvement now means i have to do 4 x 45min workouts. gee thats a wopping 3 hours a week. not much in my books for having a shot at life.

    hugs,

    my first post here
My routine is pretty simple right now. I walk 5 miles a day, except the chemo days. (I need to translate how i compare to you guys with the meters and kilometers....I should have some idea, but really i don't.) Prior to all of this i would do water aerobics 5 times per week. My arm muscles have gotten smaller. I prefer to stay out of the chlorine right now.
With having a port, I'm not sure how much upper body work I can do.....never really asked. Would also like to add pilates or yoga, but again.....i forgot to ask the Dr.Doom colon surgeon if i should always avoid abdominal exercies due to maybe always having a weakened abdominal wall from surgery. ??
Anyway....I've always loved exercise....sweating out all that gunk. It's fascinating to see a lot of elderly people doing their thing at the gym. You can see the benefits of exercise, they really don't age from year to year.
GAIL -- did i see where you are from Santa Barbara? I'm jealous. Walking around there would be great. I get there about once every year or 2. Love it!
PEPE -- Having a beach to walk on daily makes me hate you. Just Kidding!
PETE -- Are you on a damn coast, too??? That in itself is therapeutic.
    Later.

    gym and yoga
Now that it is summer break for me (I'm a kindergarten teacher) I have been joining **** at the gym. We are doing the eleptical climber for 30 minutes and then weights. We have also begun yoga again. I love the yoga.
We have not been out on the water much as it has been windy on our side of the island. I'm waiting for some blue skys and no wind then I'll be on my stand up board.
    Take care all.

    Aloha,
    Kathleen

    Im here Graci,
    nice to know

    Im here Graci,
nice to know I was missed. The weather here has been so beautiful I have been outdoors. I am having a long overdue surgery on my foot on june 30 and I cant wait, I used to be an avid walker. I have pain in my left one but I took my 5 yr old grandaughter Hannah to the park and we got carried away. I climbed a hill and we walked 2 miles. My legs have been so weak. I felt so accomplished. I had to admit, I could hear Pete talking in my head to move move move. I am climbing my way back to good health.
