    thanks my adventurous friend
awesome turkey, your amazing. thanks for keeping me company.

got an AM and PM walk in today with my very overweight diving friend Dave. His Dad and my kids joined us this evenings walk. He had bowel cancer 20 years ago, was found early. He told me of his reconnection dramas and his surgeon.

Never heard this before from my friends very wise old surgeon "if you have an active polyps and exercise they secret a chemical that triggers diarrhea" now this should be
a warning in all gyms and fitness places. Before I go pushing this has anyone else heard of anything like this.

pepe see what you can learn when you go walking. it was breezy and refeshing by this really wild surf beach, the kids loved it, so did i. the kids and I had mexican diner which we all loved.

I still dream of getting some of our other US friends into joining us.

    hugs also

    Active polyps and gym....No dice.
    Hi Pete,

I do go to the gym regularly and when the weather outside is condusive, I walk home from work (3-5 miles - guesstimating; sorry don't do math well and so you're prolly better at the kilometer transcribing) - about an hour and 20 minutes door to door.

I can 'run' on the elipitical 2 miles under 22 minutes - so not fast, but not bad for a 50 year old. No, I didn't notice any diarrhea, so I don't fit the mould. I had several regular polyps and one (THE one) adenocarnoma....

If it's any consolation, I did get out today at lunchtime and walked! Am I a US friend?

    Cheers,
    Bev

    What a great Idea
My husband and I try to walk every night whether it's by the water or around the block. He has gained alot of weight from the steroids in his chemo - so he hasn't walked in a while - so we try to do at least 20 minutes. When that becomes easy we will move up to 30 mins and so on. Now if the weather would just cooperate with us it would be great ! 70 degrees here on Friday, 54 on Saturday and Sunday, 50 on Monday, 48 on Tuesday and today (Wednesday) it's snowing, and it's supposed to snow again tomorrow, then warm up to 50 on Friday. I hate this weather. Oh well, trying to get the walk in anyway.

    Good Luck to you
    Sandi

hi sandi, welcome to the walking club
you know the steroids helped me to pack on 13kg since xmas.

knocked off 3kg in the last couple of weeks with all this walking.

good kuck to you too and all in the walking club.

    Walk !
So yesterday we walked on the boardwalk at the beach, then went down to the ocean to look at the waves - it was really, really, really cold. Little to early to be walking at the ocean. Does walking in the grocery store count?

    Walking
    Hi All,
I walked for 1.5 hours today. I think I get double credit since I push my 100 lb daughter in her special needs jogger. What do you think? We have a lovely walk around our neighborhood, up the hill where there is a great view of the ocean and through the beach park. It is wonderful.

    Cheers to all of you.

    Aloha,
    Kathleen

PS **** was at the gym when we were walking. He is in better shape than I am.

    sounds wondeful kathlleen
i am glad you and **** are being fit and healthy.
i too am heading into the gym to a few extra muscles here and their.
imagine if everyone on the board walked 10kms per day everyday as a priority.
    i thinks its achievable.
the health benefit, is proven, simple and something we can do ourselves. its also free.
i wish we had some more adventurous types here that would come walking with us.

    hi pepe,

did a great bushwalk yesterday up a big hill with some friends, its was great but tiring.

    did some long term planning.
lets walk till we drop or reach 100000km.
    only 100,000km to go.
    if 10km a day,
    we do 3650km per year
    or 36500 per decade
and over 100,000 over 3 decades.

if we commit to this then the beast would dream of taking us.
    sounds reasoanble to me.

let me know what you think ?
i'll be 44 plus 30 years thats 74 after that i may rest.

    cheers,
