Mine is complicatedSkiffin16 said:WOOD and Chemo Trivia
Funny you should mention would and a chemo drug or chemical....
One of the chemo drugs that I was administered (along with Cisplatin, Carboplatin and 5FU), was Taxotere.
Taxotere is a derivitive to another drug that is from the YEW Tree. I have heard at least two origins, one the European Yew Tree and needles from it, and the bark from the Central American Yew Tree.
Mine must have been from the European, as I was a constantly peein.....during the infusion.
Best,
John
My actual name is Fred, but I wanted something easy to remember and I see Greg53 all the time since it is tattooed on my wife's behind.............ok,ok, I'm un-original also, it's my name and age at diagnosis. Easy to remember and I joined post-treatment so I blame my unoriginality on chemo-brain.

about changing forum name. I changed my picture. That is me on a cutting horse - no idea if this will help or not. Couldn't you guys have thought I was a surgeon or something? LOL
Nope, even with the picture, it would not have helped me one bit. I have never heard that term before, and I know nothing about horses. Nada, zilch, zip.
However, I did spend 17 years with my ex, who constantly thought it was funny to ask me to pull his finger. *sigh* *eyeroll* for some reason I don't miss him.
....I guess it's all relative...and what you know....0 -
Great question
Hi all,
There have been a few that I really wondered about. Thanks for explaining them to me.
When I was joining, I thought that this site would be such a great place "for me" to belong. Past and present experiences with cancer and the wealth of info you all have. So, I said "for me", that's a good name, of course it got pushed together and became "forme"...0 -

Didn't want to think anything gross about you; like surgeon.

I spent most of my life working what we called 1st or 3rd shift (4-12 midnight or midnight to 8:00am) Consequently I was home in the day time with my daughter as an infant and toddler. As she got into the toddler years I would often be in another room or floor of the house doing chores and needed a quick way to determine that she was OK. Many times if I called her by name she sometimes wouldn't answer. I discovered that if I yelled out "Ratface" she would start laughing and I immediately knew she was fine. Kind of an early monitoring system. When the computer age erupted it just carried over as a unique identifier.0 -

Funny John, you may just be right. It reminds me that I watched hours of teenage Mutatant turtles and "Splinter" with my now soon to be college graduate son. Thats exactly where I must have pulled it from. I've never put the two together until now. Errie what cancer can reveal to you.0 -

Geeezzzz, I must be stupid or something or the chemo..or maybe the rads ...or maybe old age..or hmm no more excuses..I don't get it. I don't understand the joke about your name. And I admit it. I have tried and tried as I read this thread And I have not lead a sheltered .life. Or at least I didn't think I did. LOL
I mean maybe you where a barber, or a lawn mower, or a manicurist, or a bouncer, or maybe...enough Rose. Anyway, I've always been jealous when I see people on horses. My biggest dream was to move to Montana and get a little spread and ride horses and be a cowgirl. See what radiation does to your brain ????? Rose0 -

I always wondered about your name..because you seem so nice and supportive. And "ratface" is a bit hmmm scarey. But, it shows how families do and says things amongst themselves that is so personal and well really cute. Now I picture you on a turtle thanks to the other fla guy. LOL Rose0 -

LOL...I think it's so cute that you have no idea what the joke is about "Cut one" is slang for passing gas...made it sound like her name meant she loves to pass gas. Hope this explains it to you, I didn't want to get too gross while explaining it to you.0 -

Bless you Glenna, I hesitated to post that. Finally. To be honest about it. While I was trying to figure it out....my futile imagination was coming with with stuff that was a lot worse then that. Thanks. Funny story..years ago I had a guy friend that would jump in the air click his heels to one side and "cut one" Oh my God, I used to tell him I wasn't going out with him anymore if he did it everywhere. But, I did. He'd just look at me with his stupid grin. and say "Well, what do you want me to do...explode..!!!!!"
What a great thread this has been. Lightens up the day and we all sure need that. Rose (Still cracking up.!!!)0 -

Still just messing around with luv2cut1. She asked if we could have though something different of her name, like she was a surgeon. I was saying I wouldn't have thought something that gross.
It would be hard to offend my sensibilities. Not sure I got any left.
