    Busy?
This is one of my calmer week-ends. You should see my schedule when I go back to work! What can I say, I decided this is my summer to enjoy, so I thought it was best to get started as soon as possible.

    old ladies weekend
I'm 65 ... and my cousin who is 68 is coming for a visit tomorrow. Saturday we are going to a small town nearby with several other family members ... going to have dinner ... then go to a summer theater for a play. Then Sunday we are heading down to French Lick (Indiana) to do our share ... and participate in our own "stimulus package" ... at the casino. Yep ... we'll be two of those little old gray haired ladies sitting hypnotized at the slot machines. Wish me luck!

    hugs.

    As for me...
My husband told me yesterday that he was planning to surprise me tomorrow evening, when we were supposed to go out to dinner for our 13th anniversary, by "just stopping by the church," and then renewing our wedding vows! Our priest (Episcopal), Susie, told him not to surprise me...at least not with the whole concept. So he was all worried yesterday, when he told me, that Susie knew something he didn't. But he said there's still more to the surprise...

Well, I'd be the first to admit that our marriage isn't perfect -- we are both difficult to live with -- but this was so romantically out in left field for him to do, that I was really, really touched (still am).

So...after walking the dogs, Xiaoxiao's violin lesson, some easy gardening, and hopefully a nap, we're going to renew our vows and go out to dinner with Xiaoxiao, and Susie. After that...probably a good night's sleep. I am still sore and weak from surgery, so anything more romantic than gentle hugs and a kiss is out for me!

But Rich said he wanted to do something special, after the last few months and the surgery, to show me how much he cares. Awwwwwwwwwwwww. I guess he's pretty special after all is said and done.

(I just wish I had the body I had the first time around.)

    Love you guys,
    Debi

Still recovering from second surgery, first week back to work, two dr. appointments, and finding out today chemo won't start until June 25 (week later than planned). I am wiped out but tomorrow my daughter and I are going to my mother-in-law's with her wedding dress for a fitting and then to my step son's for a cook out. Both will be fun and a great distraction!

    This weekend...
Saturday morning, my husband's going fishing. In the afternoon, we'll attend a high school graduation party for the youngest daughter of one of my dearest friends (about half the food for that party is in my refrigerator! - I'll be helping my friend with preparations in the morning).

Sunday is "open" so far... Maybe some shopping (Retail Therapy!) in the morning, and later, hoping to finish planting the last few flowers - provided the weather cooperates. I went grocery shopping today (NOT Retail Therapy!), so we'll have a nice dinner off the grill.

To all who've already posted - thanks for sharing!

To Mimi - great idea! Will you start the thread each Friday?

    Kind regards, Susan

    Home at last
We get to have a home tomorrow! We have been homeless for 2 weeks moving from Las Vegas to New Mexico and I think we are ready to be out of the hotels. 3 humans (the 16 year old is reaaaallllly tired of this), 4 cats and 2 cars. I'm ready. I started the new job this week and drove 160 miles round trip each day. I'm tired. Today was hubby's birthday so we went out for a nice dinner. He offered me a drink and I said I couldn't because I would fall asleep in my plate.

And on the subject of breast cancer: I got my results back and I do *not* have either brac gene!

    Maureen

P.S. I don't know what computer access I'll have for awhile but I'll be back eventually.

    Taking it easy
The Moopster has to work tomorrow and Sunday, so I guess I will spend my weekend with three hungry, noisy pups. Actually, I plan to loaf all day and then pamper my little Moopy when she comes home from work.

We should have something more exciting to report next week, Mimi!

    weekend
    Hi Mimi,
As we speak, I am visiting a dear friend of mine that lives in Chapel Hill, NC. I usually stay here about 4 weeks. I then go to visit my other dear friend in Madiera Beach, FL. for about 2 weeks. I call this my "Cher Farewell Tour". To date, Cher has had 12 and I've only had 4. I have some catching up to do.LOL

This weekend we are going to go out to a great Thai Rest. and then do some outlet shopping.
    Ditto for Sunday.

    Love and gentle hugs,
    Donna

Me too, any suggestions you've had may help. Sorry folks, new to the site and didn't realize my reply wasn't linked to it's comment. Someone brought up hair loss (impending) and I wondered if there were suggestions for hat/scarves or wigs. Thank you!

    My Weekend
Last night was our local survivors celebration at the zoo here. Very awesome to see the hundreds, yes hundreds, of folks who are treated at the cancer center here. We had hotdogs, ice cream and snacks. Got to ride the train and the carousal. And the zoo was closed to the public and only open to us. I saw many people I knew from the center. And also many people I knew just as neighbors or church folks who I had never known had cancer. It is so humbling to see all of these people. At first I was not wanting to go because it always moves me to tears. But I went and will continue to go in honor of my parents, both gone from cancer. I know my Mom would be pushing me out and saying be proud, you survived the fight! So I will continue to go.

Sunday I will get my commission as an Extraordinary Minister at my church. What this means is that I will be able to take communion..I am Catholic...to anyone in a hospital, nursing home, or shut in who desires to receive communion. This is truly an honor for me, and I will probably get misty eyes there as well. And our local casino has sent out vouchers to all the locals to come by and match their voucher numbers for cash. Maybe I will be one of the lucky ones who wins $10 grand..they are giving away five of those!

I will also be resting up Sunday. On Monday I get to fulfill another of my longtime dreams....I get to help paint a Habitat for Humanity home here. I am excited to be able to do this. When I think of how much has gone on in my life these past 2 years, I am so in awe of the fact that I can get up and get going and do things. Yes I get tired, and after being on my feet for an hour, my legs just automatically walk withour much feeling. But it will not stop me. I feel so lucky to be here. So lucky to be alive that I just want to help wherever I can.

Thank you ladies for all your encouragement, I love you all!!! Cindy
