Me with 7 months of HAIR
I had to gel it a bit because it tends to be a little frizzy. Something I am not used to because my hair before chemo was straight. Sure is a lot better than no hair. Hugs Donna

I had the news of breast cancer when i was looking for work . Today I had my first interview after the surgery. It was a joke. Anything For You...
A woman is sitting at a bar enjoying an after work cocktail with her girlfriends when an exceptionally tall, handsome, middle-aged man enters. He is so striking that the woman can not take her eyes off him. The man notices her overly attentive stares and walks directly toward her. Before she can offer her apologies for…

i think Anne Frank said--- deep down, people are basically good!
I spent the weekend in NYC at the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event in Central Park. Thousands of people, wonderfully organized, SOOOOO inspiring, hugs, cheering, encouragement, survivor stories, tears, music and of course the walk. My daughter lives there and I had registered on her team. AND....in my smaller…

Saw Surgeon today - 1 year post
Well actually Thursday will be 1 year post surgery and I actually saw his PA (She's new - I liked his 'old' PA but I really liked her!) Don't have to see him for 6 months - will see him instead of her then. The only 'problem' is that she's not 'happy' with the lymphedema on body - so - it's back to the lymphedemlogist. I…

Ladies, Today was an interesting day. I teach school. I've started going topless since I have some hair coming in and everyone likes it. Back to my story, class had ended but the bell hadn't rung yet. One of the students came up to my desk and rubbed my head. He was amazed that it was so soft and preceded to call the other…

Chewbacca
OK, my hair is about an inch long, silver and maybe wavy...it's just an inch, after all. Somedays I think I resemble Spencer Tracy, I wish I could say Richard Gere, but apparently I have a reputation of being a bit of a curmudgeon, so Tracy in "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?" it is. It's been 4 months since I completed…

Chemo
Staring chemo on Tuesday. Not looking forward to it. Told my family this weekend that I will be losing my hair. Not sure how I will react to this. Side effects sound terrible from reading the board. Realize not everyone gets the same ones just trying to have a positive outlook and the "wait and see" approach. Any…

My daughter thinks I'm a ****!
This is kinda off the bc subject, but I could use some advice. My 19, almost 20 year old daughter, left her good job, which she hated, and went to Hawaii in Sept. just to have the adventure. Like all of you at some point, I have been battling the beast for more than a year. Had bilat. mast. June of 09, did months of chemo,…

Hello. I am just starting my journey and needed to touch base with those you who are new and those of you who are at various stages of your journey. My diagnosis was delivered to me just a few weeks ago so I am in the preliminary stages. Talk about confused, scared, numb and a little mad. I guess this is all normal. Any…

Strides ??
I had a ACS volunteer come up to me in the Survivors tent and ask if I would volunteer for ACS Reach to Recovery. It's a peer-to-peer support program. Has anyone done this? What was your experience? Part of me feels I'm in need of support not the one giving it, but then it may help me to give forward and help someone else.…
