Uhhhh!!!
Dear Tami, what do you mean by "appears"? I had a scare last July, my onc. thought she saw "it" on a cervical mri she'd ordered. It literally, scare me silly, for a couple of weeks, my hubby and I thought it was all over. But a petct show no uptake, and even if it had, it wouldn't have been "all over". I know how scary it can be, it has taken me months to recover from the scare. But, try not to jump to conclusions either way. I am praying for you, use us here to lean on. God bless..Please explain a bit more about your situation if you can. love...alison0 -
So sorry
So sorry but as Alison said "appears" isn't for sure. Take a deep breath and focus on getting the information and testing you need. It's so hard to type this but you've been through this once and know what you need to do. It's my prayer that the only thing you'll have to repeat is the testing because it'll show something other than a recurrence.
Hugs and angels.

MINE IS IN MY BRAIN NOW, BUT ALL I CAN SAY IS YOU CAN NEVER GIVE UP HOPE. HANG IN THERE AND LET'S FIGHT THIS TOGETHER. I SPOKE TO A TOP KNOTCH ONC FROM SHANDS TEACHING HOSPITAL AND TOLD HIM HOW FRUSTRATED I WAS AT TRYING SO VERY HARD TO DO EVERYTHING PLUS MORE TRAN EVER EXPECTED OF ME AND STILL IT CAME BACK WITHIN A YEAR! HE BASICALLY TOLD ME TO STOP BEATING MYSELF UP... IT'S CANCER, THERE IS NO CURE, BUT THERE IS LIFE WITH IT'S CHRONIC CONDITIONS. SO THAT'S WHAT I'M SETTING UP FOR AT THIS POINT. GOTTA GET ALL WE CAN OUT OF THIS BEAUTIFUL PLACE WE LOVE SO MUCH. I STILL WANNA BE A GRANDMA!0 -

Thanks for the response and the prayers. I went for my annual mammogram and they found 4 dots situated a little from the scar tissue. So I got a biopsy done and the doctor said it was DCIS. Precancer. so she sends the tissue to the pathologist and has an appointment set up for the general surgeon for a mass. But i never made it to the surgeon because the pathologist report says it's benign. Yay!! So i thought. 4 weeks later she calls me back and said it really pressed on her heart so she took my records to case management. She said it is way too suspicious and she wanted to have what they saw removed. So now i have an appointment with the general surgeon this Thursday. I was freaking out about the thought of a massectemy until I read the discussion board. I don't know if it's possible but would you know if they can check the tissue while I am still under anastesia and if it is, just take the breast then? it's all the waiting thats really freaking me out. What do you think?0 -
Sorry to hear the news about
Sorry to hear the news about the cancer coming back. Many on this board are dealing with recurrences. You are not alone in this battle. May the strength and courage displayed by other Survivors be of encouragement to you. Go take care of business and FIGHT! God bless.

I dont think they can check the tissue that quickly. I have had Bc in both breasts. They are not recurrences as they were two different cancers. It stinks but you can deal with this. It better to have a primary than a distant recurrence, of course its better to have none at all, but we all know that. keep breathing!!!!0 -

I wish I would of had a double mastectomy....please forgive my spelling.
I'm triple negative and my mother is 22 years soldier, my mother and my cancer are different, she is possitive! but now she has had a reacurence for the last two years, and she takes famara for the cancer that has spread to her plura in her lungs, her markers are up and were right now waiting for the results, next step, we don't know, God willing her test will come out well.
The waiting to hear from them is pain staking.
take care my sisters...I'm sorry I am so out there....Karie0 -

Hi Tami...I know they can do a quick test of sorts while you're under...I don't think they can do the extensive testing tho. I know what you mean about the waiting. I don't know what stage/type of cancer you had...but for me, I just opted for the mastectomy, even at stage I...just to avoid the worry down the road. I haven't ever regretted my decision and it's been 5 years, this coming April. I had reconstruction w/implants done and am happy with it, tho they don't feel or look exactly like the real thing. Hopefully (and it sounds like) you have a great doctor, so you should talk all angles out and then make the decision that is right for you. If I can help in any way...let me know. Renay0 -
sorry about the worry
Yes, they can do a frozen section while you are in the OR but speak to your doctor about her feelings about that. I can understand why you would want it over and done with if it is necessary. The waiting is misery. So sorry you have to go through this again. I think this is most of our biggest worries as survivors, that the beast returns.
Sending you postive thoughts and prayers.

My younger sister did have a mastectomy and she had a very similar scenario. She had spots showing up on MRI near her chest wall 5 years after her mastectomy. The surgeon went in and cleaned up the area. It was a local recurrence. She has been 5 or 6 yrs now and is doing fine.0 -

Tami, so sorry to hear your news. We fight with all our strength the first time around and then the beast comes back and kicks us in the butt and challenges some of us again. I admire all of you tremendously. Somehow you find the strength and courage again and do battle as many times as you have to. Wishing the best for all of you and hoping to hear better news soon.0 -
No Doubt It's Scary...
the really GOOD news is they caught it early!! And...though losing a booby isn't ideal, it's really not that bad. My reconstruction is so good, the only thing the reminds me it's not my "God Given Boob" is the slight scaring and not really feeling it that well.
I know...waiting is truly the hardest part. But hang tuff! You can get through this!!
