Hey guys. So much has been going on that i have missed being here. I need someone to share it all with, so what better place then here. I am now in renal failure. Well, thats what the creatinine numbers show in my blood work. I find out tomorrow about the specialist appointment so really i dont know what is going on or will happen. I just would think that after six surgeries already and chemo, something would give and that just maybe i could feel like i can get on with my life and live "normal again". I also pulled together a benefit for the local breast cancer foundation that i volunteer for, the i have wings. It was last night and i had raffels and silent auction, a DJ, my uncle who is an awesome Elvis performed. We had food and our personal bar maid. I am very down that i only broke even. After paying the dj and hall i had 80 cents left. I cried and feel so embarrassed about it. I wanted to give Janet, the founder of i have wings, something out of it. I dont know how to tell her that i cant. So down and feel like i did all that for nothing. I worked so hard and wanted so much for it to work and it didnt. I also found out last night that a girl Angela, that i grew up with and played softball and fastpitch with for years passed three weeks ago from breast cancer. Im very sad about that too. What a special person to loose. I also did the making strides walk here in Cincinnati today. What an emotional and wonderful experience it was. I carried Angela with me the whole time and i cant get her off my mind. I hate this damn disease. I am so exhausted from everything this weekend, so i think thats why im so whiney. Sorry all. I think of all the new ones coming here and praying for all those who are batteling. God bless you all.
Laura

    Laura, you've done so much!
Please don't be hard on yourself about the money. Your work and efforts towards this event speaks volumes and it sounds like it was a blast! Not to mention walking on your friend's behalf. Please accept my sincerest condolences.

    You're an amazing person!

My prayers and thoughts are with you dear sister. We're here for one another.

    Hugs,

    Sylvia

    Laura,
    You are not whining,

    Laura,
You are not whining, just sharing some of life with us. I am so sorry about the renal failure. I know that it is just one more thing on your plate and hopefully they will be getting you into treatment for this. As far as the fundraiser, sometimes this happens and they will understand that you did your best. The very fact that you are doing this in the middle of all you are experiencing is amazing. I am also sorry about your friend. Losing friends and loved ones to this disease is hard. I would like to make a suggestion to you. Right now you are going through alot and the addition of renal failure is just one more brick in your load. It might be good for you to take some time just for you. To rebuild your strength and energy. You are a caring and giving person but taking on so much at this time might not be in your own best interests. Do a fundraiser, walking in the stride and then coping with a new challenge is a whole lot of food on that plate. Add to that the loss of a good friend and it can cause overload. I will keep you in my prayers and again, I don't think anyone will fault you for putting your heart into the fundraiser and only breaking even. Take care of yourself and bless you.

Sounds like everyone had a blast!
More comes out of a fundraiser than just money. What great advertising for a great cause. Hopefully it will lead to more donations in the future. I'm amazed that you took this on while going through your health issues. You're a hero to me! Please keep us posted and come back more often if you can. Hugs.

    Laura, I missed you...
Glad you got a chance to write. I'm so sorry about you health, you have been such a inspiration to me. You are one strong lady. You must have done a lot of work for the breast cancer benefit. Good Job!! It isn't just about the money, it is also about awareness and you sure drove that home. People learn when they go to these benefits. And they all gave of there money and time because they cared. And that my dear was because of you. Do not be ashamed of that. We are very proud of you. Next year every one will volunteer and the hall will be donated and that will give you your profit monetarily. I think you did one hell of a job.
Take care Kay {{{HUGS}}} Oh and don't stay away so long!!

    Sorry Laura,
You really have a good heart. Did the DJ and hall know that this was a benefit? A lot of places will donate their places, or give you a discount for events like this.

Good for you for doing the strides walk. Thanks for walking for us. Stay strong.

    Hugs, Jean

I am sorry to hear about your kidney failure. My heart goes
out to you. I feel tremendously for you as I know you have been through so much. I am sending cyber hugs to you dear sister.

Don't be so hard on yourself Laura. Cut yourself some slack. My gosh... I can't believe you were able to pull a fundraiser and juggle medical issues, too! Holy Smoke! You are amazing!!! Such a giving person, big heart. You did your best. I am sure those who worked with you know, first hand, how hard you worked on the project.

Now that it's done, focus on you. Don't over extend yourself. Be good to yourself. God bless you and yours.
