Counts too low, no chemo :(

Guess I would normally not be sad to say I can't have chemo, but at this point in my journey were it's really vital, I'm a little concerned. I went in yesterday for just the gem of my gem/carbo regimen and my WBC, RBC, and platelets were too low to do chemo. I'm praying really hard these come up fast because chemo is my only option right now to get this beast back under control. What I fear the most is that the beast was multiplying and spreading while I was on Xeloda and then I went one month with no chemo, now I am unable to do chemo. I'm triple negative and at this point chemo is my only hope. Praying really hard my counts come back up so I can continue the fight. Is there any magic secrets to getting your counts up? Hope your chemo went ok yesterday Laurissa and that you're doing well.

I am sending strength your way
Kari, I know this must be very disturbing news. Please know that we are all behind you and sending strength and vitality your way. I don't know how to get your counts up other than treating yourself well. Get plenty of rest and try to relax (I am sure that that must be very very hard). I know you can do it.

    Kari, when I was going
    Kari, when I was going through chemo I had advice from two people on how to boost them cell counts. One was to drink pure unsweetened "tart" cherry juice, I found it in the juice isle at our local grocery store. The other gal told me Noni juice. I tried the cherry juice, very tart sour stuff... {{{shiver}}}

    Hi Sweetie.
Ok, first I am sorry you are stressing an additional thing now. Please know, this too has a solution. There are things you can eat and I mean really eat them fresh that will help you with your counts.

Please purchase this book as well: http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearch/imageviewer.asp?ean=9781587613449&imId=

    For juices (AMAZING BOOK): http://www.amazon.com/Big-Book-Juices-Natural-Vitality/dp/1844837998

    Please read this: http://www.livestrong.com/article/17407-increase-white-blood-cells/

    And this for RBC: http://www.livestrong.com/article/349946-foods-to-eat-to-increase-red-blood-cells/

Please try eating this everyday: bright color veggies such as Kale, red and green peppers (not cooked, but wash them very well), guava, broccoli, beets, red beans, lentils, carrots, fresh oranges.

Are you getting noulasta? Sorry if you mentioned on other posts before and I missed it.

I will pray for you. Stay positive no matter what.

Kari... You're in my thoughs and prayers...
Wishing you all the Best. I know the news to stop chemo is not good. After my third round of chemo, my wbc was also too low to continue chemo. I had to stop chemo and move on to surgery. Now back in chemo, with one round left... I always worry about my low wbc. The other sisters listed some Great resources. I, too will give them a try. .

I pray that your counts come up and that you're able to resume chemo SOON!!!

    Big Hugs~

A real bummer of a setback, Kari...
But, please don't allow it to bring you down! Already posted here - much good info re: diet. YES, the foods you eat can help a LOT with blood counts. And since we all metabolize differently - you may have to try everything before finding what works best for you. My WBC remained steady thanks to the (dreaded!) Neulasta shots. However, my RBC got really close to being too low. Onc nurses suggested beef.

So, please do your reading/research. Get the groceries. And I'll continue to HOPE for you.

    Kind regards, Susan

    Sorry to hear your news
Sorry to hear your news today. I know there are foods that will bring up those counts but I'm not sure how fast they work. I was given shots when my wbc fell too low, they worked but threw me against the wall. You are such a courageous woman and a fighter. Hoping and praying that something will work for you quickly and you can get on with (dreaded) chemo, but in your case a necessary thing. Wishing the best for you and hoping to hear soon that you're back on track.

    Kari..
This sucks.....I understand, completely, your frustration of not having chemo in your body...I've gone 26 days until I started the Xeloda this morning...I feel like those freaken cancer cells are in my body, having a party....have you discussed having the Nuelasta shot...some chemo doesn't require it as we know.....as some do not drop counts like others...

When you feel up to it, keep us posted...we care..
