Lori:
All weekend George has felt lousy. Kinda like you. He just didn't look right to me. I didn't think it was cancer related, no fever, diarrhea a little, fatigue, fatigue and lots of gas. So today he didn't go into work and he tells me how many people were out last week with flu like symptoms. Bingo, I wish he had told me this last week. Could be that you have a touch of the same thing. George did go and get his Avastin this afternoon and his WBC was down, still normal, ok for the Avastin, but down for him.
Now go to bed and get your rest.
Take care - Tina0 -
feel better
Lori, I'm wishing you feel better SOON. So sorry about the weekend. You are in my prayers. Hugs, Joyce0 -
Dear Lori,
Hope that as each day goes by you feel better and better.
Here there is a bad stomach virus making the rounds with similar symptoms.
Whatever the cause, take care and stay hydrated.
Hugs,

Bummer
Yup that folfox can sure get you down and mess with all your counts. My schedule was changed to once every three weeks because my counts were always so low. Hoping that you feel better soon and it's good that you are resting as you need it.

I hope the rest break helps and you can recover.
I hope you feel better soon, was going to say right now.

Sorry Lori
Sorry to hear about the delay. My platelets were at 55000 so ONC decided to go ahead with #8. My white blood cells went from 1.7 critical to 4.9 normal. He did reduce the oxi by 10% because he is starting to worry about permanent damage due to the Folfox. He talked me into continuing beyond 8 treatments. He finally explained his concern with the chemo continuation when he pointed out that every Folfox treatment isn't uniform in its delivery. One treatment may go more to say the colon rather than the liver etc, and the rest may go to the lungs rather than the other places for cancer to start. He said the 12 treatments give me the best chance of getting the chemo to all the areas it needs to be. He believes I don't have cancer any more since there is nothing on Pet scan and CEA less than one since August but this is a reoccurrence and he doesn't want to take chances. So I will continue to #9 and beyond if possible. I hope you can fight through this too. Your adventures with Folfox are far worst than mine and mine have been bad. I'm sitting here now listening to the damn pump push more chemo into me and thinking still four more treatments...can I take it? Hugs always Lou0 -
Thanks everyone
i appreciate all the well wishes. I'm doing a little better today. I kept down the scrambled eggs but, they still taste like dead baby chickens. I'm sure things are tougher going since I'm also dealing with my son.
They have called in a specialist from Oakland who deals with transplants and immune dificiencies. They have done a lot of testing and we hope to have some sort of information by the end of the month. There is a whole team from various places around the country consulting with the Doc from Oakland. We are hoping that there might be some way to get a lung transplant before my son's heart wears out. At this point we are looking at possible heart failure. Prayers are welcome with this matter and thanks again to everyone.0 -

Unfortunately, with the MRSA (antibiotic resistant staph infection in the lungs) that alone may be enough to keep him off the list. We're just keeping our fingers crossed that something good happens. The waiting list at Standford for lung transplants is currently at 3,800 patients and while we can't pinpoint how long anyone has, my son is said to have less than a year and most likely less than 6 months at the rate we are going. But, as we all know.... only God knows for sure. He's beat the odds many times before ... maybe again???0 -

Sorry to hear that one Lori. Mine got cut short today, the infusions quit working. Said something in Port blocking it. Whats wierd is the nurse could still flush it (3 times) and that worked. Had to install a IV in my hand to finish all except the 5fu, didnt want to send me home with the pump on a IV connection.
Now have to go to hospital in am to figure out whats wrong with it. Supposed to run a dye thru to watch it. Hope they can fix it, dont want another surgery.0
