Hi ladies,
Hope you are all ok.
I wanted to pick your brains, just to give you some background mum finished her treatment end of November :) and was diagnosed in may time.
My sister received a phone call from mums friend in France , she said she had rung mum one night this week ,and that she had broken down and said she thought that she was depressed.
Mum has shown no sign to us about being depressed, she is still doing her jobs and looking after herself , she is always well turned out.
I am sure she gets upset about her situation, who wouldn't?
I asked her today if she was ok, or if she wanted to have a chat with a doctor. She did say she had felt a bit down , but couldn't pin point exactly why.the answer worried me! I asked if it was because she had finished treatment, she responded she was pleased to have finished treatment, but was concerned about her 3 month blood test, it is her first one on march, she said once that was out the way she may feel better. I can understand the first must be one of the worst, but it's never over, it's only another 3 months before the next one! I am worried that she will be still in the same boat.
Could you tell me how you all felt once you treatment was over? I have read cancer patients can become depressed once treatment had finished.
Sorry to ramble on, but. I am worried she doesn't want to worry us anymore.

    Was depressed
    Hi,
I was depressed near the end of my treatment, but I had 8 rounds of chemo instead of 6. I know depression because I had it previously. I was actually surprised that it didn't hit me earlier. I think it is due to all the stress. Anyway, for those who aren't familiar with the feeling of depression, they say if you feel really sad for more than 2 weeks, you are probably depressed. It sounds as if you are not in the US, but here I simply told my oncologist how I felt and she prescribed an anti-depressant. Maybe your mum could try that.

    Very common
As long as I was itreatment, I felt like I was doing something to fight. When I finished the last treatment, I felt like I was losing my parachute! I had longer periods of time off because of the last treatmet then surgery but have only been in remission one time. The entire time during the remission I felt like I was not doing enough. It's the worst waiting game. I wish I had a better answer.

Hi quick update, we went to
Hi quick update, we went to my sister house warming last night, and I spoke to mum again about depression, she says she only feels low if she is on her own, understandable , you have more time to think on your own!
She has agreed to speak to a doctor, I am pleased he will know the right questions to ask her!
