Please hang in there, Kari!
I don't know what's possible or impossible, but I do know PT scans are notorious for turning up false negatives. It's a good thing your oncologist is going with the MRI. And while there's no such thing as "good" mets, bone mets can be treated into submission. I am placing a special prayer request with my special angel right now. You still deserve NED!
God Bless,

The waiting is horrible. I'm Stage 3C with 10 positive nodes, but ER + HER2-. I just had an MRI, Mammo and Ultrasound (it had been 6 months since end of treatment). The mammo and u/s were neg. and the MRI showed an area which is "probably" negative and due to post-op changes, but they are re-doing it in 6 months. I'm taking it as a negative, but you can bet in 6 months, I'll be a crazy person waiting for results.
Sending all the positive energy and good thoughts I can to you today for a perfect result on Tuesday.

So is the spine considered a bone met? Sounds like a dumb question but I have no clue.0 -

I have mets to my spine, it was there when i was originally diagnosed 2 1/2 years ago. Right now they are stable and they do not seem to cause any problems, but I do have back pain. I get infusion therapy of a drug called Zometa every 3 weeks, this is to strengthn the bones. You may want to ask your doctor about taking Vitamin D. I think my mets are on t-10 or 11 but i really have not had any major problems with the bone mets besides some back pain. One of my doctors is not sure that the pain is from the bone mets. I hope that your MRI is clean, you have been through so much.0 -

Yes, it would be considered a bone met. Anytime cancer spreads to a different area, it is called a "met", which is shortened from metatised, which mean that the cancer spread to a different area.0 -
Oh, no...
Was so, so hoping for better results, Kari. Am sorry for this additional scare, sorry you must now wait for a more definitive answer.
In the meantime, I'll continue to be hopeful - hoping the MRI on Tuesday puts you smack dab into the right percentage category: false reads.
Kind regards, Susan0 -

Kari,
I can't help with the specifics but will keep you in my prayers. Try to stay busy and to not worry (I know much easier to say than do). But worrying won't change the outcome one way or the other, so just breath. Good thoughts and a big cyber hug to you.

UGGG I hate the waiting game too!!!!
I have bone mets to my spine also and get the zometa started getting it every month, now I get it once every 90 days. The bone mets, also to my spine, cause me mostly stiffness and soreness, unable to bend as easy as I used to and when I get up in the mornings or after I have sat for a while I am very stiff. Thats how my cancer was found, I has having horrible back pain, muscles siezing up was awful! Had a MRI of my spine and they found tumors on my spine, I was admitted to the hospital, had my first mammogram found a tumor in my left breast, had a liver biopsy was DX'd with stage IV breast cancer with mets to the spine and liver. That was March 18, 2009. Mine was pretty advanced by the time I was Dxd if yours is just now showing up I bet you will do better with much less pain!!!!
Good luck I will add you to my prayers!
