Radiation

Hello, I am new to CSN, and I could really use some support. I have hodgkins lymphoma. I was diagnosed about a month after I had my first baby. I am currently undergoing Chemo, I just finished #5 out of 12, so I am almost halfway done. At the end of my Chemo treatments I will have to undergo Radiation therapy. I am wondering how hard it takes you to recover? I have been trying to care for my baby as much as possible, with some wonderful help from family, so I am just trying to be prepared. Any side effects and how long you would want someone to help you would be appreciated. Thanks, Kate

    Hi Kate,

So sorry sbout your dx. Not sure if this will help because it was so long ago and not quite the same for me as you. I had rads first in 1989 for HD. Unfortunately, I was hospitalized w/side effects (esphogitis) and tx was delayed for awhile. Back then, they did not have meds for nauseau and I was constantly throwing up...Then 5 yrs later, 1 month after the birth of my daughter, I was dx'd w/a recurrence. I had ABVD and was able to take care of her for the most part. Just felt like I had the flu the first few days after a treatment. As you know, we all respond differently to treatments and hopefully they will not be too harsh on you.

    Thank you so much!
I am taking the ABVD right now, and i have been able to take care of my little boy like you did with your daughter. I am not undergoing radiation yet, so I was just trying to be prepared. It sounds like a lot of the time you do both at the same time. Thanks so much! It is nice to have support from you!
