Tired
I am tired. The last 2 rounds of chemo I have been especially tired (I have had ~ 25 rounds of folfiri + avastin). During the last 2 rounds I also had an annoying ear plug (never had one before in my life!) and I am now on antibiotics for an infection. The ear plug took awhile to get fixed, because my family doctor wanted me to soften it for a week before they blasted it. Before I had it removed, my ear was sore, I was tired, my hearing was impaired and I felt nauseated ... + of course my mind went to scary places. Then I got this infection + I continue to be exhausted. Then I read that side effects of this drug are tiredness, weakness, etc. I am starting to feel a little more energetic. And the good news - when my my husband was discussing my ear symptoms with my onc a couple weeks ago, my onc emphasized how well I was doing on this drug cocktail. Also I now have a great family doctor; wouldn't go back to my old one because she misdiagnosed me for awhile.

IT's normal to be tired after 25 rounds of anything.Do you try some immune booster, like AHCC or ricebran arabynoxilan compound. It will give you some energy and appetite.Maybe even fell better with chemo?Google it.
Take care,Alex.0 -

I well remember that damn chemo tiredness
Ann darlin,
I well remember that damn chemo tiredness. It sucks. Please do your best to fight it and keep moving. Hell, if you were near here I would get your butt out cutting logs with me.
Maybe I should make the farm a chemo rehab bed and breakfast. I would get all my firewood that way.

Glad for good news
Glad the drugs are doing their job, but sorry that it has got you so tired.
Hope the infection is soon gone and you regain your strength.

Sorry you're tired
I think it's be expected for you to be tired with all you're going through. We will give you permission to be tired but, you have to rest too. I have such a hard time doing that. My head says one thing and my body says another and then my body convinces my head to join in and then I'm just plain exhausted. I make these great lists in my head of all the things I'm going to get done and then ... well about 2 or 3 days before chemo again, I start reorganizing my priorities and start to do things in spurts so I at least get somethings done. I have chemo this morning and I'm already fatigued just from trying to play catch on all the things I was too sick or tired to do the last 2 weeks. Can you say vicious cycle?
I hope that you feel better once you get your ear taken care of. It has to be just adding insult to injury to have an infection along with the chemo and drugs. I'm glad that you're doing well with your current cocktail. Big HUGS to you Ann.0 -
(((((((HUGS)))))))
I'm sorry you are feeling so tired, it really is a vicious cycle! I'm glad your onc believes you are doing well, but I also know that it doesn't help when somebody who HASN'T been there, done that, says something like that when you are feeling like crap! I hope your infection clears up quickly, I'm sure that is just an additional drain on your energies that you do NOT need right now! Are they going to hold off on the Avastin while giving your body a chance to fight the infection? My daughter has problems with was in her ears and has to have it blasted every once in a while as well. She's always amazed at how well she can hear once the plug is cleared! She says the hearing loss from the plug is so gradual she doesn't realize she's losing it until the plug is gone and she can hear again. Of course, initially everything is so loud it's uncomfortable! Glad to hear you are so happy with your family doctor, they can definitely be worth their weight in gold (or coal if they suck!)!

I am not taking any immuno booster, but I will google those you mentionned. Thank-you for taking the time to respond; I know your life must be very busy right now + I am thinking of you.0 -

Although I am a city girl, I have to admit to some log splitter envy when you talk about it - I can tell it energizes you, so your chemo rehab bed + breakfast might be a good idea. You probably would have so much wood you'd have to sell some. Who is going to do the cooking?0 -

I have been resting a lot, + I feel guilty. I too make lists of what I want to get done. Some days I am lucky if I get one thing knocked off the list. Big hugs back to you! I hope chemo goes well for you.0
