When Is Enough, Enough?

I think its been enough
I think its been enough time!! How long did they tell you it would take for the results? I think it's typically 2 weeks, right? Can you call the office and at least get a nurse on the line? She may be able to share the results. I know the waiting is driving you crazy but let's believe that "no news is good news"!! I like that.0 -
waiting too long!
Judy, Yes I agree tell receptionist that you want a nurse on the phone or have dr. or nurse call you back asap! Waiting through another week-end is too much, you can't wait.
That's it!

definately do something. They have the results by now and i would demand and tell them you wont get off the phone or if you go there tell them you will not leave until you get those results!!! Bug the hell out of them. Take care and ill pray for you always.

Get to the nurse....
pass the receptionist by lying, if necessary...a new complaint, fainting, something...
THEN read her the riot act...well, softly...you still need her on your side...
"sorry to be such a bother, but I am frightened! I know you have many other patients, but I have tried to not bug you all. But it HAS been 2 weeks...and I'm getting very scared!"

hmmm, this is interesting
i had my brain mri last monday (october 11) and when i went for the ct simulation on the 14th, i asked my radiation onc if she knew whether there was cancer in my brain. she looked at me in surprise then accessed the report on her computer. she was able to tell me without a doubt that there is no cancer in my brain. she did mention that there were a couple of things that puzzled her, and this is not her area of expertise, but that my medical onc would be contacting me regarding the full report. so yesterday i get a phone call telling me that he has put in a referral to a neurologist and the first appt they have open is in january. so i am guessing that means nothing too critical, on the other hand, i do not know why i need to see said neourologist. so i called medical onc, his nurse gets back to me and tells me it's because of my brain mri. i tell her i have not gotten the report. he is supposed to call me today.

Just my opinion
but two weeks and two days is about a week and two days too long. I realize that doctors deal with many patients and labs with even more but someone should realize that to them we may be one of many but to us, we're all we've got.
If I were you, I'd call back and explain how long you've waited and how patient you've been but that it's really getting ridiculous and you NEED to know something.
You're my hero for being able to wait this long, but the old "no news is good news" will only take you so far.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Judy--you are not being impatient--it's been way too longMarcia527 said:It's harder for them to blow
It's harder for them to blow you off if you show up but the person you need to see (the doctor) may not be available. But you could try. I wish I could do that to get my medical records as they are just ignoring me.
Sounds like you're a little like me--I try really hard not to make people mad by being a pain in the butt, but seems like it's time for action. I'd probably keep calling--or have my husband call. Funny how medical professionals sometimes respond so much quicker to a male--seems to be that they take it a little more seriously. I would be beside myself with worry and frustration.
My prayer today is that you get the good news you're hoping for TODAY!

You can bet if that was the doctor's wife or close relative waiting for results, they would be there already. I'll never forget how difficult the waiting for test results was back when I was first diagnosed. It makes me furious to see you going through this. Something must be done about this waiting game from hell!

Meantime
Judy, while you are trying to get your doc to respond, why don't you go to the facility where you had your study and get a copy of the radiologist's report?
Hang in there!

I don't blame you at all. Incahjah75 said:Judy
No one should have to wait that long for a test result! Have you called your onc to see if he/she has gotten the results. Waiting is awful! Hoping you hear some good news soon.

I don't blame you at all. In fact it makes me very angry! Since tomorrow is Friday I would demand to speak to my doctor and then nicely say to him/her "Do you know what it feels like to wait for this?" You can't go through the weekend again.
I'm so sorry that you're going through this Judy.

Too long!!!!
Judy, Two weeks is extremely too long to have to wait on results. I would definitely show up in their office. I think because they deal with this kind of thing everyday that it becomes commonplace for them. Hello!!! This is your life and it is precious. So I say go see them.

Inexcusable Wait, Like Michele Says, Get Copy
Judy, I am hoping that no news is good news, that if the MRI had shown anything of concern that you would have been contacted ASAP. Any wait is frightening, though, and the delay is inexcusable, totally insensitive.
Michele has excellent advice, I think: go to the Radiology Dpt and request a copy of your report. Do not let on that your doctor has not told you the results. This tip is one I read recently from another board--one cancer survivor explained that she goes the next day to the Radiology Dpt and gets copies. She does this routinely so that she never has to wait. Also, if there were any results that need to be addressed promptly, getting the results yourself prevents any delays due to sheer neglect.
I am so sorry that you have been made to suffer through this long wait. I will keep the prayers going until you receive good results.0 -

I'd call every hour on the hour when I get scans done my onc reports it to me usually in 2 days!!! I'd call and call and call and call ......................
My next scan is Nov 15th.0 -
?????
Judy if they are close enough that you can drive there I most certainly would go to the office and tell them the stress of waiting is far to great after two weeks of no response from the medical team. I would then tell them that you plan to take a seat and wait till the doctor has a moment free to tell you what is going on as you simply cannot go another weekend with type of stress on your heart that that alone is extremely harmful to your health. I hope you get your answers soon, please let us know when you do. You are as always in my thoughts and prayers!!!

Oh Judy!!
That is WAY too long! They should have told you SOMETHING by now!! You've been WAY more patient than I could ever be!! I think I would seriously consider doing what you said! Show up at the office and don't leave until someone tells you something!! I'd probably even consider stalking the doctor's house at this point!!
So sorry! I'll be praying for you.
