Moving Day!
After 8 years together, I'm finally moving in with my girlfriend, to her house, which is only 3 miles away. But I've lived in my apartment for 17 years -- so, even if it isn't much of a move geographically, it's HUGE for me emotionally. I'm still not completely recovered from treatment, so I know it's going be good for me not to live alone anymore, but I'm still probably going to sob my way through the rest of the week, clutching a pint of Ben & Jerry's for support! :-)
I'm moving my person and necessities of life (computer, Glee DVDs, ice cream, etc.) tomorrow, and then big burly movers are coming on Saturday for the furniture. So I'll be back soon!

I know the feeling Traci
I moved this summer in the middle of my treatment. I lived in my previous home for 25 years and cried about losing my familiar surroundings and cried about having to take my bc with me to my new life.
Life is full of goodbyes it seems but it is also full of new beginnings so enjoy your new home and be sure to buy something special that will make you feel at home in your new place. I bought myself some very cool pillows that sit on my new window seat and when I look at them I smile.
Try not to get over stressed as I did and found myself sitting on the floor of my old house crying because I didn't know how I would get everything done, it got done and I am now settled, got rid of lots of clutter and now feel at home.
Happy Trails to you Traci,

Congrats
Congrats on the new beginning and it's a good time for it. You'll walk thru each room and say good bye, cry a little and then it's on to new and happy times.
Thanks for letting us know you'd be away awhile since we can be worriers when we don't hear from someone.

OMG...moving! I lived in my apartment in Long Beach for 18 years before moving into a house~ how on earth I accumulated so much stuff was a mystery to me!
Congrats on the Big Step~ I think, after having met Traci and Trace, you are probably ready!
See you back on the boards when you are all settled in!

I am so glad that you are going to be with someone--so very happy for you. Do you know that I have never had Ben & Jerry's? I have a feeling that that may be for the best. Did you watch Glee last night? I am such a baby; I was boohooing at the end.0 -
Good luck on your move
Good luck on your move Traci. I moved over the summer and found it to be a GREAT time to clean out the closets. I became one of the favorites at our local Good Will store. Check back in once you are settled and save some Ben & Jerry's for the rest of us!!0 -

Seventeen years in the same
Seventeen years in the same place is impressive amount of time. Not to worry, you will have many more good memories in your new digs, too. I am glad that Trace will be there for you. Take care!

Ralph and I went together for 12 years before moving in together. I'm sure like me, you have been spending lots of time at Trace's house but let me tell you, it's so exciting wehn you make the big move! It's a committment that is very special and we giggled for a year...no kidding. I wish you and yours the same fun.
I was thrilled to move and never looked back...that was 27 years ago last month.
Feel good and have fun you guys.
Hugs, Judy :-)0 -
Great news!
Once the Moopster finally agreed to go out on a date with me, our relationship reached the point where we were staying with each other constantly, either at her place or mine. The one night we spent in our own apartments, just to prove we could, we spent practically all night on the phone with each other... even though we were exactly (you guessed it) three miles away from each other. We're so glad the two of you are settling down together and wish you decade upon decade of joy!

Congratulations on the big move. I am impressed with your ability to have stayed in an apartment that long...oh wait...rent control...got it. Blessings to you both, I'd send you some damned pink toaster or iron as housewarming gift if I had the address. The breast cancer awareness hot rollers are much too personal for this occasion.
Best wishes, truly!0
