Music, music, music in that order. Not really a hobby, a way of living, I started out on guitar at age twelve in England, I have been at it ever since with some minor successes. Have played with, recorded with, opened up for the biggest British bands of my era (sixties, seventies and 80s). Whereas I have hung it up now, I follow things and artists as they blossom. Steve Marriott's kids, for those going who? he was the lead singer with Humble Pie. His kids are doing great, his Toby out of Atlanta and his daughter Mollie in the UK. So yeah, I guess my hobby now is talent spotting. Denis
Wow, Humble Pie was the first concert (of many) I ever went to, at the Arie Crown in Chicago. That brings on the memories....Cheers

The treatment time further established my hobby of computer activity, just as being on this forum has. Golf took a major hit years ago when I developed arthritis in my lower-back, so the dream of breaking 80 was already in my dust when C came around. And, as a sport's fan, the Cubs and Bears sure haven't been doing their part in keeping me busy with following their teams (though the Bears of 2010...).
I'm what is known as a Chartist. The banking/housing crisis hit the market so the low was in March of 09. My treatment started in early-Feb., so I had a lotta time at home to be on the comp during market hours. For stocks, it was both the best and worst of times, and I went thru a major change that has worked out quite well. To be painfully honest, though, in all I'm still around break-even, so it's not like I've done well. It's just that during the time of treatment it kept me very busy on the comp both before and after the rads, and then after the market close with the charting, which takes 1 1/2-hours, typical- truly did help me a lot. Made me feel like I was still working, you know, and that was very good therapy for me. And it is like a hobby with me, still, because if it was a job- hey, I'd have spent the last 9 years waiting to get my first paycheck!

It is amazing how much talent is on this site. John your art is amazing! I checked out your
expression page awhile back & was totally blown away. We all have such a variety of different interest's & passion's in our lives. When I was younger fishing with my dad & later with hubby & kid's. Once the kid's flew the coupe we were into building homes & doing reno's. I eventually got tired of working my butt off & decided to let my feminine side show. I opened a fashion house & worked with a top canadian designer for 15 year's. She was also an artist & now has opened up her own galllery in Toronto. Then later sold diamond's untill hubby said I was buying more than I was selling but still dabble in it for old customer's of mine. Cooking & baking I love more than anything, now I am trying to get my energy back to contine with that. Having my girlfriends over & going out on a Saturday afternoon to the Country matinee & dance my socks off! Have to get more energy back for that one lol!0 -

For some reason I have always thought Peter Frampton was the lead singer.
Learn something new every day!

I've been telling stories my whole life, and some of my short fiction/editorials have been published. Until cancer, I was afraid to live my life outside the box society had created for me. Now, I'm much happier when I'm not trying to fight the artist within!
For anyone into fiction, feel free to check out my blog:

Y'all are some amazing people! All these wonderful hobbies sound more like talents!! I'd say right now, more than anything my hobby is parenting! I just love spending all my time with my 2 little ones, everyone tells me to spend as much time as I can with them now, because before I know it they will be grown! I do like to cook also! Trying new recipes is always fun!0 -

They grow up way faster than you'll ever realize....
I can remember the days when my children were just babies and toddlers especially. Now my daughter is 25 and my son 30....very hard to think my little boy is 30 years old.
It always reminds me of the Harry Chapin song, "Cat's In The Cradle"....

Seems like everyone here has such special talents except me - LOL. I enjoy a little bit of everything...I LOVE gardening and am always outside during the warm weather either weeding my gardens or walking. Unfortunately I don't walk much during the fall, which is absolutely the most beautiful time of year. The reason I don't is because I'm a wuss...we have a rather large black bear who is seen roaming around quite often in the fall looking for something to eat so he can fatten up for the winter.
In the winter I love reading, sewing, crocheting and baking. I guess I'm lucky because I have such a wide variety of interests that I can always find something to do that will keep my hands and my mind busy.
Thanks Hondo, this is a really great thread, it gives us a chance to know each other on a more personal level.
My best to everyone,

Humble Pie featured both Steve and Peter Frampton. Steve certainly had the best voice and the songs from Humble Pie (like 30 days in the hole) were more suited to Steve's bluesy vocal cords. Peter was a better guitarist than Steve, there was some friction I believe and that's why they never reached their full potential and peter did better in his solo career than Steve did. My first band was with Steve, a great singer and harmonica player. Hondo, if you e-mail me your address I will send you you an album I made in the sixties. Denis0 -

It is a huge chain book store that has outlet's all across Canada! We have a Starbuck's at the one in my city. They have cozy chair's that you can sit at to review book's etc. Plus some evening's they even have entertainment. What I love about this store is they have computer station's set up where you can check to see if a certain book is available. If not, they are more than happy to source it & ship it in. I have ordered many book's & the service is wonderfull. Our Chapter's is roughly 10,000 square ft in size!0 -
