~*~* What Have You Learned In Your Journey With Breast Cancer ~*~*

I think the answers will vary a lot, and possibly, they will vary in regards to what place we are in our diagnosis, surgery, treatment and lives.
So, what have you learned with being diagnosed with breast cancer?
Thanks!

I have learned so much Susie
I have learned so much Susie with my journey that I could write a book here. But, I won't.
I learned that I was braver and stronger than I ever thought possible.
I learned that I had even more friends that loved me than I realized.
I learned that my family become warriors right along with me to support and help me.
I learned that I love my husband more than words could ever say.
I learned that life is to be enjoyed, each and every day and that is what I am doing.
Thanks for this post Susie!

I have learned that hope is stronger than despair. That joy is greater than sorrow. That love is a gift we must give ourselves first in order to give it to others. That when we reach out and share another's journey it helps us along the way. That friends and family are the threads that bind us together. And most of all, I have learned that I am stronger in my fight because of all those that stand with me, here on this board, in my home, at my work and throughout my life. Thank you all.

I was raised to believe that a good woman puts everyone else's needs first. Now I know that isn't healthy.

I have learned that the
I have learned that the things that really matter are not monetary, that time is extremely valuable, that we should really not sweat the small stuff and choose your battles wisely as so many trivial things are not worth our time and effort. I have learned that life is worth fighting for and that cancer has no right to our happiness. I have learned that we are usually a lot stronger than we think we are and that we should not put things off till tomorrow too often.

to breathe more, and take things slowly or as they come....not to take on the world all at once. I have learned not to get so excited or angry over "small stuff", and it mostly is "small stuff". I also found, like someone mentioned, just how strong I can and will be when I have to be. I take nothing for granted anymore.....from the tiniest smile, to the prettiest sunset. This adventure is humbling.0 -

Love this question! It really is a great thing to think about, what we have learned.
I have grown in my faith a LOT.
I have learned I am stronger than I gave myself credit for ( I think most of us have learned this)
I have learned to look at people, really look at them. We never know what private battles they are fighting, just because everything looks good on the outside does not mean it is.
I have learned that cancer cannot take some things from me ever, it cannot have my sense of humor or my love for my God, myself ,family or friends. It can knock me down for a moment but I can get back up. It cannot have my spirit to fight back.
I have learned there is so much I don't know about people I see daily that are fighting different things because I was to busy to pay attention.
I have learned to care more and to show that to people, not just those closest to me but strangers if need be. We all were strangers to each other at some point. We have grown to care deeply for each other and the struggles we face even if not BC related. We communicate here and think of others facing surgery, that 1st chemo, 1st rad the dreaded waiting for test results. Some of us have met or will meet, many of will not but we can still care.
God bless you all

I've learned that I am braver and stronger than I thought too. I found that I needed to stop sweating petty crap and focus on just being alive and enjoying every little thing that I could see, hear and feel!

some answers to a great question
I have learned to savor the moment, live in the present and to forgive and to forget.
I have learned I am not BC, I am me, fighting BC.
I have learned I am a survivor and a fighter, not a victim.
I have learned that I am not alone in this journey.
I have been reminded what true friendship is.
I have learned to be mindful of what my body is telling me.
I have learned that life is a learning process... I have so much more to learn0 -
Hmmm...
So your gonna make me think?!! LOL. There is so much I've learned. Here are just a couple of things...
1. I'm stronger than I ever thought I was.
2. If I have to chose between cleaning the kitchen floor or doing the silly dance with my
daughter, the dance will now win EVERY time.
3. True happiness comes in appreciating the small things. Blue skies, colorful flowers,
reading a good book, having a good cup of coffee.
4. In the scheme of things, the only thing that really matters is my relationship
with God, my family and friends.
5. Having your "natural" boobs are way over rated! Fake ones are just as good!
I could go on and on...but these are the few things that just came to mind at the moment!

I love this question
I've learned that
I'm stronger than I could ever have imagined possible.
In a crisis I'm not as wishy-washy or indecisive as I thought I'd be.
My husband loves me so very much and I can always count on that love.
My teen age granddaughters will truly come through when things suck.
I have an awesome group of friends who truly love me.
Spending more time with loved ones is way more important than spending time cleaning
the house
Boobs are over-rated cause when you least expect it, they can turn on you
My bucket list is not that long, so I'm having a great life.
Thanks again for a great post.

Wow good question.
Wow powerful question and powerful answers.
I too have learned that I am a lot stronger than I ever thought I could be.
I have discovered the true value of family and friends.
I have learned that I am not alone; as originally thought when first diagnosed.
I too will let the laundry and the dishes wait when it means I can hang out with the family.
I have discovered that I have more patience than I used to have.
I have learned that my ability to laugh at myself has been a key to keeping me sane.
I’m still learning every day that without a sense of humor life is way too complicated.
I now love more, laugh more and live more.0 -

that is exactly how I feel and have been trying to live my life since my diagnosis.
I also learn about and have met you - very amazing and very talented women, I never knew exist in this world. You became my friends and I am very thankful for this part of my life.
Sill very often I wish I could wake up and ... nothing has happened

Wow, good one
I have learned, first and fore most that God is bigger than I ever imagined. I have learned that people really do love and care for me. I have learned that I do not have to do everything, if things get done then great, if things don't get done then great too. I have learned by reading these posts that fantastic bonds can be made by something that is a terrible disease. Unfortunately I have yet to become a part of this bond but that is because I am mainly a lurker and not a participator.0 -

I have learned that life is short, no matter how old you are. It can all disappear in the blink an eye, so live well, love God, and make sure your peeps know how much you love them.0
