And they DID!!!!!! YEA!!!! We have 3 very large ladies munching the tall green grass in our backyard!!!!

And we have our Fall birds now...guess that is the end of summer. We also turned the 'verwarming' (house radiator heating) on...it gets cold at night!!!

    They are 'IJssel Vee'....
    Always brown and white. Not the only colored cows in The Netherlands, but these are named for the river that runs close by us.

    There is another type, named Lakenvelders, that are dark brown or black, with a white stripe around their middles...the name translates loosely to 'Blanket area'. But the name also can apply to goats, mice, even chickens....

    These lovely ladies are all pregnant. Guessing mid- to end of October there will be calves. We shall need to wait until we return after Christmas to see them....

    A small farm, we had 2 cows, also brown and white.

    Also 300 chickens, 30 sheep, ducks, geese, dogs, cats, and a goat. Now there are horses and alpacas there.

    The trouble was....
    The dog was a herder, so when he heard 'duck', he drove them away!!!!

    ( He only knows how to beg for food and sleep in the most comfortable chair! )

    Love those cows!! I'm sure they're loving their food. When I was little, pa had milking cows and beef cows. Ma used to milk em' and she HATED it. She was always getting kicked. Those ladies didn't like her. They never bothered the rest of us, just her. LOL

    My friend's Grandparents.....
    My friend's Grandparents.....

    They had a farm.... and the wife's job was milking the cows, but
    she said she always had trouble getting them to the stalls.

    My pal's grandpa whistled a loud, long whistle, and sure enough
    within minutes, there he was, milking away.... he said that he never
    has a problem getting them in.....

    And my friend said: "But that's a bull, grandpa"....




    Oh well.... those days are gone...

    (just as well, I suppose).
