I am doing fine
I am doing fine. Just got home from a 2 day STL trip to see wife’s doc and mine. My doc pulled the 22 staples out and reviewed where I am at with this crap.
All nodes pulled out were clear around the recurrent tumor in the rectum that was resected. While he was in there he also removed my appendix. He said “hell I was right there and it only took 3 minutes”.
The resection area will get checked via a barium enema type test next month. Then - AFTER DEER SEASON – mid November he will do the reconnect.
Then is the big decision I have to make. Do I do mop up chemo after reconnection????? I am going to see the new Onc they have down here in the next week or so. Not real hot to do any chemo. Chemo sucks.

Glad you had clear nodes. That is a big plus.
You have some time to make your decision about the chemo.
Deer season? Do you make any venison jerkey? My dad makes it and my grandkids love it!
Keep on keeping on

Please keep them in your thoughts, they have not journaled since 8/3 and they received some very discouraging news on 7/24. I think of them often and check their journal for updates.
Take care you two and if you see this let us know how things are going.
Hugs to you both - Tina0 -
Bye bye stoma !!
Well I haven't written much lately but I've been reading all the threads the good ones and the sad ones. My heart goes out to all of you who are going through difficult times.
My husband had a colonoscopy prior to his reversal surgery and his surgeon said that everything was perfect and ready to be reversed. Surgery is scheduled for Monday morning.
This morning we changed the dressing on his stoma fotr the last time and I just can't beleive that after six months he's finally coming back to his former self. We pray that everything goes well and that he'll get the hang of things quickly. But I know that it can take a certain amount of time for it to get back to normal, we pray that this will be the happy ending to this cancer journey.
Love you all

Dh went today, been doing kinda crappy the last 2 days so I was glad it was scheduled. He has epididymitis, prostatitis and a possible hematoma on his left side. Put him on Cipro, gave him some percocet and we are going in the morning for a sono for his side. He seems to be doing a little better tonight.
We have both been laying in the bed for 3 days as I have some weird side pain that no one can figure out....)o:
Thanks for asking!
Prayers to all tonight!

Hope the visit to doc went well and they were able to help him with those issues.
As for you, you must take care of yourself as well. Hope you can find out what is causing the pain and get all better.
Take care of you and hubby,

"I'm as right as the rain." One of my favorite lines by Val Kilmer in Tombstone.
Well, just got port #3 installed a week or so ago now...it's a powerport and it's ready to go to war.
Just got my PET/CT scan done 2 days ago; pending results, although it's already expected to light up in the surgery area, since we did not get a clear margin and I've got 100% positive cancer cells, and they are gathering their forces - me too!
The point of the PET/CT was to make sure the abdomen, pelvis, liver, and colon, or any other areas do not show evidence of mets. That would be considered a success!
Met with a nice PA today to get my scope scheduled. Should have seen the look on her face when I told her my story - they scheduled me for the hospital to do the procedure, given what I had going. The date is Monday, Sept. 13th. I'll miss most of the Cowboys vs Skins game Sunday night prepping. I got the good old fashioned stuff - Colyte - a whole gallon.
No Miralax and Gatorade, Dulcolax fiasco for me this time. I'm going "old school" and this stuff will let them get the camera inside, LOL:)
Chemo starts for me on the 15th. Radiation will be decided once they review the PET/CT scans and devise a game plan...looks to be 5-6 weeks, not the news I wanted to hear, but what's a fellow to do?
They can amputate my rectum, my liver, and my lungs - but Cancer cannot amputate my soul - that one is mine and mine alone.
I'm officially back on the battlefield and ready to lead the charge up the hill once again! Now, who's with me? Let's GO! I'm easy to spot - I'm the goon with the big smile on his face, LOL:)
All in all, to answer your question, "I am fine."
Thanks, Marie, for keeping up with all of us. It's a big time responsibility.

Am glad you are not a member of the Cowboys Football team, since I am in Redskin territory, with your spirit and determination the Skins would not stand a chance!
Am sitting here hoping and praying that the scan shows very little in the surgical area and absolutely nothing anywhere else.
We will all charge out on that battlefield with ya and do our best to keep that old cancer in the no win column.
Hugs,

I am feeling really good. I have been eating everything not nailed down.... what's up with that???? Gained 8 pounds too.... oh well.... I am starting my new "way of eating" Monday. Going to change diet all around.... easing in juicing little by little...and eventually going to add TCM. Will see how that all goes and if things stay good.... I will be gradually withdrawing from any and all chemo. that is the master plan anyway..... I see my Onc for the first time this coming Thursday since Cyberknife. We will discuss what chemo will be used at that time. I am sure a lot will depend on PET/CT results which is scheduled in 2 weeks. I know for a fact that they want me back on maintenance chemo but may also want me to have a few more rounds of the good stuff... I know right. Oh..... as far as the Cowboy/Skins game?????? SORRY...... COWBOYS RULE!!!!!!!! But it is going to be a great game. You all take care
