MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston? Dr. George Chang is a Colorectal Surgeon there, of course there are others. The word from his peers is that "he is brillant".

Sorry they turned you down, maybe it was because they didn't feel they could give you the very best care for your situation. Keep on looking, I'm sure there is somebody that can and will be able to help you.

Sorry about being turned
Sorry about being turned down by Stanford, it is difficult to think we have lost an option. I was referred to UCSF by my local onc. When I first went there (it did take several weeks to get in) I was greatly encouraged by my new doc (Robin Katie Kelley). She was very encouraging, but said she didn't have anything for me right then, then within the same week I did hear from their research people and did get started on a trial. I started it in June and have been able to continue on it so far. I am stage cc-stage 4 with mets to the lungs. They are tiny, but scattered, so I am not a candidate for surgery right now, but she said they will keep watching to see it that is possible. I really like their attitude there and they have seem very personable, I don't feel like just another number. I don't know where you live, but I drive from chico (about 3 1/2 hr. each way every=other week. It does make for a long day, but, hey, it's what I can do! Maybe something at UCSF could work for you. They were just named a top 10 cancer research hospital again this year. Best to you. Jean0 -

Herdi, UCSF is the place for you. They accept Medicaid and your an hr away drive distance. You need a surgeon and med onclogist who are not afraid to take on difficult cases even if odds may not be high. Herdizzness was dx with colon cancer stage 4 on Feb 6 2010 and went to local center in Santa Cruz area.
ill get you a few referrals at UCSF Herdiziness. I see the member above Chicoturner mentioned one in above post, Robin Katie Kelley. Were here for you and care.

3 treatments so far of oxaliplantin, xeloda and another one called Avastin they started 2 treatments ago. Added 07/12/2010, I finished my 7th round of chemo recently.

Hi again, I saw the post from Heartofsoul. He listed several Docs at UCSF - I believe you will need to get a referral to them. Dr. Bergsland is the Dr. running the trial I am on, but Dr. Kelley is my onc there. I know Dr. Kelley is younger and not always listed as one of the top Drs., but if you read her bio it is pretty impressive. Also, It does seem that the info is put into their system and that is how I heard from research within days. Best to you. Jean0
