& likes his grit's the southern way. He makes the best hot wing's also lol!
Kim, (and all those others out there wondering). Most ANYTHING can be obtained on-line these days. You might wanna give Grits a try. They are great with just Butter or country ham drippings. GRITS = Girls Raised In The South.

Milk and Sugar ?!?Skiffin16 said:LOL
If you are from the North, you would eat grits with milk and sugar (or similar) as they taste a lot like cream of wheat that way.
In the South they are mainly eaten with a dab of butter and a little salt and pepper. You can also mix a fair amount of cheddar cheese in with them and they are really good, especially served with fresh fried fish, and some collard greens.
How do I know these things you ask... I'm a damn yankee. I grew up in Ohio, and ate my grits the Northern way when young. Now that I'm grown and living in Florida, I eat them the Southern way...
Damn Yankee, means I'm from the North, but stayed in the South...LOL.

For goodness sake, y'all!
I think that might be against the law here in Alabama...0 -

I like my grits with a little butter and mixed with a couple of fried eggs.
Everyone also needs to remember how to use the word, "Y'all" in a sentence.
"Y'all" is singular.
"All y'all" is plural.
"All y'alls" is plural possesive.

Hmmm..."all you all" sounds a bit redundant to me...but, whatever! I'd rather have sawmill gravy and biscuits, anyway! Born and raised in the South but can do without grits as long as I have gravy!0 -

I resemble that remark, being a Virginia girl myself! Bring on the butter, salt and pepper! Actually Trader Joe's has grits that are pretty good as well.0 -

The other day I thought I was fitin to go fishin but I really just had a hankrin.
All of this reminds me of my five year old grandson who proclaimed he got in trouble at school for "titchin' a fit"...
Kind of makes it hard to scold him when one is laughing so hard...0 -

Kristyn,
I know my husband may be the exception but only one food has changed in taste for Jim: chocolate. He has advanced hypopharyngeal cancer, has had three (big) chemo treatments and 30 out of 35 scheduled radiations. Although he has a feeding tube, we have not used it for nutrition, his weight has held fairly steady, decreasing some days and going back up on others. He eats anything he wants, chopped fairly small: for example, last night he had a chili dog with the hot dog cut into small pieces and he pulled off small pieces of the bun. We substitute tater tots for potato chips or french fries. Steak fries also work for Jim. Every night before he goes to bed he has a large milkshake made with ice cream and half and half (to add calories). Because he had his teeth extracted (too many fillings in almost all teeth for it to be safe), he does not eat salad (which he misses) but on the whole, he is pleased with how he is eating and so are his doctors.
I don't know what the difference is but it has definitely not been as difficult for Jim (so far) as it has been for some of the people who post here. I am hopeful this last week of radiation is no more damaging to his ability to eat than we have seen thus far.0 -

Kristyn,
Glad you found your way here, and sorry that you have cancer. What type of cancer do you have? You really should start your own thread and ask any questions you may have. There are a lot of great people here who can help you with what to expect.
Best,
Steve0
