PET results for Hondo

To all my Family here on CSN

We had a very eventful day at MD Anderson as we waited for the doctors to come in the room with the report of the PET scan, of all days Friday 13th only bad things happen on this day. But not so today my PET showed clean no Cancer, the first time in 8 years.

There are still a lot of major problems like the jaw bone, teeth, and bad pains in the head; the good news is that one of the dentist at MD Anderson will now be working with me to help overcome some of these problems

I want to say to all of you thank you so much for your prayers and thoughts in my behalf that is what true friendship is all about, people helping people.

    Answered prayers!
    That is WONDERFUL news! I have read your posts for a long time, and know that those little light ups must have been a source of worry. Clean scan - GREAT!

    Good luck as you deal with the jaw, teeth and other issues, but hoping you'll take a few days to enjoy the great news.

    what a great surprise
    I was ready for you to say the same old "hot spots" showed up. How wonderful that they did not. This is fantastic. Hope you all are celebrating.

    Man o man I am SOOOOOOO pleased to hear this news. I was dreading logging on today with great fear but WOW ...this is the best news.

    I am sure you felt a huge wave of relief pass through your body Hondo when your doctors told you the result, and what a nice feeling.

    PS Here is little Jake - born the day I got out of Surgery which is one year ago next Friday. He has been a reason to fight this battle.

    ahh man that is fantastic.
    that is the kinda news I need to push me over the top and keep me goin. congrtats Honda on a battle well fought.Its about 2AM and I was just woke up by my little reminder (mouth and throat pain )that its time to get up and take some meds. I only have 4 more rads and one chemo to go in my first (and hope fully only round of treatment).Things are starting to get a little rough. This is just what I neede to hear ! thanks for sharing Hondo.Prayers of thanks and continued good health are going your way. Greg

    It's also great news for those coming up behind you. Your faith and dedication to fighting your cancer has been inspirational.

    Hondo,
    YOu are the leader of this pack in reminding us all the keep fighting the fight. This clean PET is like claiming victory after a long and hard fought battle. I hope you and Koreen find a way to celebrate! Enjoy!

    Hi Again Everyone
    It is hard to express the joy that came with the good report, words can’t explain it and only a survivor can know it. I am a very strong guy or I try to be and all through my treatment I felt that I needed to be strong for my Wife and Children. When the doctor gave us the good news yesterday all my feelings and emotions came to the top all at once and for the first time all I could do was to hug my wife and cry. After that I asked him to read the report again because I was afraid I did not hear it right the first time.

    The problem now is living with the side affects of the treatment. The doctor told us that I do have a lot of bone loss to the head on the left side and jaw. The nerves in that area are where the pain is coming from and I may need to be on pain meds for a long time, but there is hope.

    Also after 5 years of no dentist wanting to help me with my Jaw problem, finally the head Professor and Chief of Dentistry and Prosthodontice Director at MD Anderson told me that he can and is willing to help. I am really starting to Love this MD Anderson place
