A Good News post
CT scans show only thing of note that the para-aortic and aortocaval lymph nodes that were 2.6 cm and 2.0 cm respectively are now just 0.8 cm!
See gyn-onc next week to see about break from chemo. Liver enzymes were going up and down with Gemzar but ultrasound and CT were completely normal. Wheww! I've done 2 cycles of Doxil and 4 cycles of Gemzar this year and I'd like to give the body a break.

You go girl....this is great news!!! I know you're ready to get off the roller coaster with chemo and sounds like it could happen. That's a fast downhill slide with the CA125....can't say mine went down that fast. Started 450 and ended with 4 and staying in that range...yippe!!
Enjoy singing the happy dance~

mazel tov, annie!
great news, great ca 125 trending down. were your para aortic and aortocaval lymph nodes considered enlarged? they sound pretty small to me to start out with, but then really got tiny, which has to be good. would be so great to have a break from chemo, am sending you all my hopes that that will happen.

My gyne-onc is a BIG believer in taking a break from chemo whenever you safely can. He says, in the long haul, giving your bone marrow a chance to recover with a chemo break allows you to return to the battle stronger if the cancer recurs again. You don't want to be FORCED to take a break from chemo when your cancer is active and growing just because your blood counts can't pass muster. A chemo break when your CA125 is low and tumors driven back just makes sense. Plus it gives you your LIFE back for a little while and THAT is worth soooo much! What a fabulous CA-125! Mine has never gotten that low. I'm hoping for a break from chemo after the summer, but my CA125 is still at 72, a long way from 'safe'.0 -

I love that picture, too! You look amazing and strong! I don't think I'd want to be betting against you at the poker table, though...you've got "winner" written all over your face!

may all of us here hit the jackpot!!!

Maggie, The nodes were considered enlarged and one biopsied positive for same type of cancer cells (UPSC). Curious myself, best info I could glean is average lymph node is 1 cm, with a range of 6 mm to 20 mm (.6 cm to 2 cm) considered normal range. Mine were 2.3 and 2.6 cm so were noted as enlarged, and now at .8cm sure seems normal to me ;-). I'll finally see gyn-onc later this week. --Annie0 -

i think you may have mixed up annie and me, since i haven't been in treatment since last november. i am going on vacation, however,
and diane, if you were referring to the drug that works for me (poker), you're right, but i don't think that's what you meant. or is it? in any case, i'll be off line from about the 7th august through 17th, but will try to find an internet cafe to touch base. can't be away from this site too long......

thanx for your wishes re: my alaska trip; should be great. poker people say my partner and i are not worth our weight in salt if we don't win enough at poker to pay for our cruise!!!! i don't think so...still, i appreciate you wishing me luck. no, haven't made any shore excursion reservations yet; i hear it's better to see what's offered at the time--more choices and better prices, so we'll wait til we get to each port. getting close to time to leave; always so much to do to get out of dodge....hope you're doing well.
