    I'm so sorry
I'm so sorry to hear about the recurrance. You're right in facing forward and once again hitting it "head on".
Our prayers and love are with you. Don't ever worry about telling us anything. That's what's gotten us all this far.
    Keep fighting.

    marge

I hope you can feel all of our prayers and
gather strength from them for your journey to battle the beast again.

    Hugs, Judy :-)

You will come out on top of
You will come out on top of this. You've done it before. When I first got my diagnosis I walked around with that deer in the headlights look for about a month. The depression was almost unbearable. But, I just had my bilateral mast. on the morning of July 16. I think I'm doing pretty good so far. stopped taking vicodin on day 3. Now, when it hurts I take one Tylenol. My sleep cycle is a little askew but, no biggie. And the depression is gone. What I'm saying is I'm a big whimp and I'm doing o.k. I know you can too!
Happy thoughts and lots of prayers for you.

It's Just ANother "Lump" in the road!...
    Dear MTN,

So sorry to hear about your recurrance. But sounds like you found it early! That's good. If it makes you feel better, I have a friend who has had 4 recurrances and is still here 10 years later!! So...try not to worry too much. If they caught it early you're ahead of the beast!

Good luck with your appointments and PLEASE don't feel like you have to hide your bad news. That's what this group is for...to help each other through the good, not so good, and everything in between! :)

Keep us posted and keep postitive!:)

    Blessings,

Sue, here's what I know, so
Sue, here's what I know, so far. I had my PET scan Tuesday but haven't gotten the results from that yet. Probably today or tomorrow. I met with my surgeon on Tuesday also. Her recommendation is a mastectomy. I totally agree but I want to take it a step further and I want a bi-lateral mastectomy. I am meeting today with the plastic surgeon to discuss reconstruction. I will then get back with my surgeon and she will schedule the surgery.

I spoke with my medical oncologist by phone yesterday and she is extremely surprised that the cancer is back. I had just finished chemo in 10/09, rads in 12/09 and have been taking Arimidex since 1/10. She has requested some additional testing on the biopsy that was done last week. There is a possibility that I will not have to do chemo again. But, until the final pathology of the tumor and lymph nodes is completed, it's unknown. She did tell me that once surgery and the final pathology report is complete, she will take my case before the tumor board and get input on recommended treatments from her peers. I will meet with her 3 weeks or so after surgery.

So, that's my update so far. I'll let you all know when my surgery is scheduled.

    Your experience sounds so
Your experience sounds so familiar! When I was diagnosed, I had to have a mastectomy (large tumor), but I wanted a bilateral. Docs wouldn't do it. Then 2 of my sisters got the beast and docs strongly recommended getting the other breast removed.

And here is my little sister's story. She had a very small cancer on mammogram. Docs recommended a lumpectomy and she said no. She chose bilateral mastectomy because she already had 2 sisters with the disease. The surgery went well and they discovered that she had another lesion that they didn't know about in the same breast. We don't know if they would have gotten it with a lumpectomy?

But here's the good news--we are all still here. My little sister has been about 15 yrs out (1 local recurrence many years ago). My older sis had DCIS and has never had a recurrence (had a bilateral mastectomy and no other treatment). I had the worst case (Stage IIIA) and have been 23 yrs.

So hang in there! My thoughts and prayers are with you no matter what you decide!

I'm so glad to see your update -- even if you don't really have any news yet! I'm just so sorry that you're having to go through all of this again so soon.

I look for something from you every time I check the board -- know that you're front and center in my thoughts and prayers and hopes for a clear PET scan!

    CANCER SUCKS!!!
Everyone has said all I wanted to say, and most of them said it way better than I would have.
What an amazing site to have. Can you feel all the support/love/caring we all feel for you?
I don't know if this helps, but my feeling is that if I HAVE to have a recurrance I hope it's in my boob because you can just cut it off and throw it away! Plus I've been through the treatments and know I survived, so I know I could do it again if need be. OF COURSE I'm praying that doesn't happen, but I'm saying it could be worse....
God bless and keep you safe in His loving care.

I was thinking about you. You have a good treatment plan and timetable in place. If it is cancer (maybe not), it has been caught early. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
Wishing your PET Scan comes back negative.
