when you were little, what did you want to be?

Something made me think of this, but when i was little, i wanted to be a go-go dancer! I swear! I grew up in the 60's and it was the rage! I would put on my sisters white lipstick and white go-go boots and dance, lucky you-tube wasn't around then! Of course, now I am shy about dancing. But, anyway, i was thinking about this and i was alone in the house, so i put on some Earth, Wind and Fire (but no white boots or lipstick) and i was dancing like crazy, and it made me feel so good. Music can take you out of a dark place, so when you are down, put on some funk and dance. Or, think of one of your passions from when you were little and innocent and go with it. Put on Groove Tonight or Boogie and your fingers will be snapping. I love you guys

    Me, too
I wanted to be an archaeologist or anthropologist, too. Never pursued it, but I still get excited about the latest discoveries. Picking at stuff in the dirt probably wouldn't have been as fun as I imagined it at the time.

But, I always just wanted to be somewhere quiet, listen to the wind talk. I used to climb up as high as I could in a tree on windy days just to ride the wind. Drove my mother crazy. She was always afraid the limb would break. I guess I am as close to quiet, living close to the Pacific Ocean, listen to the waves break at night, listen to the wind blow though the trees, no traffic, no neighbors, just hubby, pets, and me. And of course good music.

Digging in the dirt is FUN!
It is fun to dig in the dirt and find things that are very old! I've done a bit of digging in the dirt - one summer I got 10 credits through U of WA for doing just that.

The 2 best things I've found were on organized digs were what was left of a cedar box that had tools made from antlers on Whidbey Island, WA and a buffalo cow with a fetal calf in situ near Buffalo, SD. It can be very disappointing and boring but when you find something it makes up for it all.

    The tea lady at Luby's
Okay, so for whatever reason in a 10 year old's mind, I thought that was just the coolest thing to wear that little outfit and push that tea cart...yup! That was my aspiration!

Speaking of 60's & 70's music, I too was brought up in that awesome time and I have to get my daily dose of my favorite song "Dancing in the Moonlight" by King Harvest. That song just never gets old. It's one of the greatest "Feel Good" songs around...makes me dance like no one's watching!

I was right in the midst of Chemo at 46, sporting my wig...bloated from the meds when my precious son Michael got married. They had their music that all their friends listenend to but as I was sitting there, all of a sudden, I hear "Dancing in the Moonlight". He surprised me with it.

Thanks Meena, for reminding me of this.

    Love ya!

    J.R.R. Tolkien
    Scotch Freckles,

That doesn't sound strange at all! As a teenager, I read Tolkien's Lord of the Rings trilogy and so wanted to live in the trees amongst the elves. There was something about their earthiness, they closeness to nature and the trees they so appealed to me. One of my favorite things to do is go deep into the forest and listen to the wind.

    That's beautiful, Meena!
Thank you so much for sharing! I wanted to be a ballerina. I would dance and dance and dance when no one was looking. I never had a lesson. I've done some Pilates in recent years, which is the closest thing I've come to a dance class.

Some of most thrilling moments I've ever had are dancing when no one is looking (I hope!!). Dancing on the beach, dancing under the stars, dancing amongst the trees ... I truly believe there is therapy in music and in dance. Our bodies can express what our minds and emotions cannot.

You dance, girl! And dance, and dance and dance ....

    Much love,
    dh

    Me too
I wanted to be a dancer, specifically a rockett. If I couldn't be a rocket I would be a Dallas cowboy cheerleader and be a paramedic in my spare time. Well, I have had a drill team and owned a dance studio and am a vet tech. Sorta came true. Kinda weird. Never thought about it until I saw it in writing.

    An archeologist.
    From about

    An archeologist.

From about the age of 8. Was always fascinated with digs, especially ancient Egypt and Inca's. Sadly though, the thought of all those years studying and you really need a good bit of money behind you to start, put me off.

I still love to watch any program on archeology though and also the ones where they go down to the Titanic. That has me gripped! Not so much interested in British digs. But if i had the chance,Egypy or Peru would be my choice of dig.

ps. I ended up being a hairdresser! LOL

Wow, so nice to hear that we were all silly at one time. Now, we also know a little more about each other besides how many chemo treatments are left, or how much hair we lost. Remember the little girl inside of you, she is still there! So, dance, dig, sing opera, sing like Cher, chase a storm...enjoy your life.

    I was a nurse, I am a therapist but as I child ..
From an early age, I wanted to be a Vet. I love animals and my parents and grandfather owned a pet shop. Funny years later, our pets' vet is a person who wanted to be a psychotherapist. Funny how things work out.
I agree. music and movement is very important in mood and tolerating life's more uncomfortable moments. I brought music CDs that were played during my radiation treatments each morning. It helped me and the techs found it fun as well.

    Superman
I am Superman.....not really, I just try to play Superman at home for my wife and kids.

I wanted to be a doctor, but screwed off at school to much. I now know enough about cancer and gyno issues I think I could pass the boards tho.

    A homeowner!
I grew up in an apartment, really dysfunctional family, so I wanted a house and a normal family. Got the house, family as 'normal' as it gets, I guess.

I wouldn't have minded being an actress - the Bette Davis, Susan Hayward type. Thought I wanted to be a stewardess (remember, I'm 50 something), except I discovered I hated flying.

Thanks for the question, it was fun,

    Sue
