Hi Chas...what kind of fish is that, from your location first guess would have been Blue Fish, but it looks a lot more like a big fat Salmon....

I got this fish from the Southampton Town Beach on Veterans Day 2008. Great day chasing fish up and down the beach. We get our share of Bluefish too but this day it was all Striped Bass.Looking forward to this fall.Tight Lines to all. Chas.0 -

I have been to a meeting at the Wellness Community. I am hoping to volunteer there so I can keep my mind busy. Aside from the cancer (clear now) I'm am trying to cope with the death of a newphew who was like my OWN SON and that is harding to me that the diagnosis of cancer. In fact, it is a lot like cancer b/c it feels like I'm dieing. Thus, trying to keep my mind busy so I don't have a chance to face the reality of it.
thanks for the post.

Very sorry to hear about your nephew. I'm sure it is like cancer, since it eats at you. I hope you are able to fill in some of the empty spaces with helping others.0 -

Hi Folks and thanks for the very warm welcome. I grew up in Chicago(NW side not far from Wrigley Field). The last 22 years I have lived and worked in Se Asia: Philippines, Thailand and now Cambodia. Am having my treatment done in Bangkok, Thailand. They have some excellent medical facilities here, Thailand is 1 of the leading destinations for 'medical tourism'. My wife, Kusuma, is Thai, which certainly helps matters of communication.0 -

I remember those days...still dislike the University of Michigan. Rich, Ohio State, class of '68. P.S. Homecoming one year was with the University of Wisconsin Badgers. My roommate and I made and displayed a huge sign reading: "Buck the Fadgers". The Dean of Men ordered it be taken down less than a day later.0 -

That's a good question Skiffen. I was in the Corps.... the Peace Corps that is. I did reforestation work in the Philippines from 1988 - 90. Since then I have been building and managing golf courses across SE Asia.
I was out having a few drinks with some friends once in Manila and the guys I was with were pretty big boys, dozer operators, construction guys etc. We were at a place not far from the US Embassy and several 'security officers' from the embassy were there. Eventually they came over to us and asked 'who we were with?' Without missing a beat, one of my friends said "we're in the Corps", they didn't let him finish the Peace Corps part. They just started buying us drinks.0 -

Where in the world are you
Hello John,
As you know we are in Lakeland, Florida.
We had the privelige of meeting you and learning of a past friendship with other members of my family as well. John has been amazing and has given Roger something to relate to in he ongoing fight for cancer obliteration. I have spent many hours on this site, learning what to ask the Drs, how to understand what they tell me, and how to cope (somewhat) with many of the stages of this treatment and his moods. Thank you John and the many others that remain here well after your treatments are finished, you do a valuable service for others and you all deserve halo's from above :-)

Sorry Roger is having such a rough go....
You'll just need to make sure you do what you need to keep him going once you get the PEG in. Make sure that you guys talk with your MD's also on the depression issues. Being positive is good theraphy, I know it's hard to stay that way, but Roger needs to fight this thing. He needs to do whatever he needs to get through it. Remind him of how tough the military was at times for you both. He put his mind to it and made it through the rough times, he can do this also.
I forgot that about your last name being Ball, are you guys related to Tim Ball by chance?
God Bless,
John0 -
Area 51Skiffin16 said:Area 51
LOL, so you are familiar with Area 51....
Yes John, Area 51 in Nevada is where the CIA keeps all the alien bodies and spacecraft. It's funny, as I grew up, after the landing/weather ballon, no one in Roswell ever mentioned the alien ship, news of it died out right after the incident in '48 or '49. Some people came to town about twenty years ago and celebrated the anniverary of the landing. Now the town's main street is all aliens, alien pencils, omlettes, museums. Several of the local ranchers were charging twenty-five bucks a head to bus people out different areas on their land, point to a spot on sandy red landscape, and say "They landed there." It's the town's main industry.0
