We are in a small town (Stuart) about 50 miles north of West Palm Beach.

    Heyyyyyy. Pattyanny!!!!!!
Now i know why we get along so well. I was a Staten Island girl for twenty years. I lived in a lot of areas on SI. Let's see, Holden Blvd, Sanilac, Norwich street, Sheraden Ave, Escanaba, Cypress Avenue... and I feel like I missed one or two. I went to St. Rita's for grammar school then St. Joseph-by-the-Sea high school. A tiny stint at the College of SI.

Now I am living very near Williamsport Pa. Which is the home of the little league world series. That is played every august in South Williamsport. I am out in the sticks. Closest store is tiny and ten miles away. Lots of farm land, rolling hills and green trees.

Connections, Endurance, Humor and Life Long Memories
This has been kind of fun at least for me. Hopefully some of you will make connections and be able to connect in person sometime.

I have really enjoyed the communication, having lunch/dinner and even stopping by for a few minutes while one of the forum members was getting the dreaded dose of chemo.

We all share a common bond that will stay with us always...and not the negative side of the beast. The positive side of having been through this (and coming out the other side). Sharing experiences, and cracking a joke on occasion when nobody but one of us can truely appreciate the humor.

Humor in things such as Phlegm, Turkey Neck, Lhermitte's, numb fingers, tingling toes (the ones with toe nails still attached), no hair (the only ones that survive are the old gray ones that you woudn't mind falling out, and the first to return if they do). The discolored and peeling skin, and that odor of who knows what when you are steeping in a warm tub with the bag of 5FU flowing through your pores. Water that tastes like sweat (sometime the only flavor you can taste and it has to be bad)...

Hmmmm how much did I miss, please feel free to continue, LOL....

    Best,
    John

John, This was a great post. I am always excited when there is the word "new" under this subject. I have enjoyed reading where everyone is from...far and wide...joined by a common "thread".
    Love to you all,

    Appreciating the Humor
    John..
Thanks for the post. It is true that there is humor only those who have been through this truly appreciate! Head and neck cancer treatment seems to offer up a particularly nasty and diverse group of side effects..You can tell my the names of our discussion threads versus those of others..Sounds like the name of punk rock songs!
    Morphine
    Crazy head pain
    Tinnitus
    throat stretching
    Phlem
    neck swelling
    eating just sucks

Please, please take no offense, I am just pointing out that we have a burden to bear and humor lifts us all up. It was the throat stretching that started me off..probably due to my doctor wanting me to have one. I dislike the name let alone the prospects of the procedure!!
