in 2008 I have been watching comedies and sitcoms only.
My list includes: "Burned after reading" a dark comedy;
full Friends and Seinfeld
I will come later and post more.

Since I began this whole cancer journey, I don't think I've rented or watched a single drama, or even a dramatic TV show.
I only want to watch things that make me laugh or smile: Singing in the Rain (Gene Kelly could have had me anytime, anywhere), Strictly Ballroom, The Full Monty, Pixar movies (Finding Nemo and Monsters, Inc. are my favorites), definitely with you on The Princess Bride, Stef -- I can recite the entire movie verbatim, but it STILL makes me laugh out loud every time!

My favorite movie of all
My favorite movie of all times is Mermaids (with Cher and Winona Ryder). One of my best memories from my mastectomy hospital stay was to watch "6 Days 7 Nights" with my husband. We laughed so hard it hurt! It has Anne Heche and Harrison Ford in it. Also love Princess Bride. One of the quotes from that movie was my "Battle Cry" before chemo..."Have fun stormin the castle!"0 -

'Keeping up Appearances' I do watch....with Mrs Bucket....ROFL!
I must confess, Fawlty is on DVD....I have the whole series.
And, we live in The Netherlands half of the year...so we get stuff there that we can't in the States...
This last winter while there, we went to a dinner theater where they were doing Fawlty Towers...it was an Aussie group...travel the world...it was soooooo funny!!!!! Basil, Sybil, and Mr. "I know nothing" were there...it is done in English, naturally, and it was fun to see the Dutch responding (they are usually a rather subdued group...ROFL!).
While in the States, I watch alot of BBC. I get Top Gear (I LOVE that show...where else can you watch 3 guys drive a Lamborgini, a Maserati, and another $200,000-plus car, 'off road' in Romania...down dirt roads, etc?).
Hugs, Kathi0 -

To Kill a Mockingbird, It's a Wonderful Life, Princess Bride, all of the others that were mentioned, any musical, The Shining (the original), and so many, many more. I am a closet horror movie fan. That's because I have to watch them when no one else in the family is around. I love a good slice and dice. Creepy, Huh? You are probably picturing me watching first, Sound with Music and then following it up with Friday the 13th or Saw. Oh gosh, that is creepy. But I love movies.

I love your choices!
Stef,
I love your choices! I also adore The Princess Bride, and I even have a t-shirt with a FAUX name tage on it ( looks like one of those red-white sticky back things) and it says; of course, "HELLO, My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die!"
People either absolutely love it, and high five me, or look at me with a big HUH????
Hilarious!

That t-shirt sounds so
Chen,
That t-shirt sounds so cool. It would also be great to have one for Reggie that says As You Wish. It is just the best movie. And I also love all the Cary Grant movies especially Charade. That man had such charm. Oh, I love your picture. You are such a beautiful and young looking woman. I would have thought your age as early 40s when I saw this.

I adore Roman Holiday~ and
I adore Roman Holiday~ and The Great Debaters, and, I admit it, Babe, which can still always make me cry ~"That'll do, Pig", and lately, The Blind Side, because aside from the movie/story being awesome in and of itself, my Reggie says my personality is just like the character Sandra Bullock plays! LOL
I have a boxed set of all seven seasons of Buffy The Vampire Slayer, and my niece and I are truly addicted and have our uber favorite epiosodes, of which there are myriad. As a surprise gift for my niece, I had license plate frames made for her which say UC Sunnydale~WWBuffyD? She loved that and wonders just how many Buffy fans are behind her in traffic loving that too!
She and I recently watched National Velvet with Elizabeth Taylor...who couldn't love that movie?
There is the Anne Of Green Gables series too...my list is too long depending on my mood!

Hobson's Choice
I am totally embarrassed to share this, but I will anyway. My favorite movie in the whole wide world is the 1954 black and white film, Hobson's Choice with Brenda De Banzie and John Mills. Charles Laughton is a riot as the alcoholic, tyrannical father. I have watched it 100 X and love the twist--the female character is the strong one with all of the sense. Hysterical. Happy ending to boot.
My family found a good DVD of it at www.tcm.com and gave it to me. My old one that I had gotten goodness knows where was terrible--I could barely make out anything as it was so dark. So don't buy a copy from ebay, etc. Get the restored DVD from a reliable source. Hope you like it as much as me.
P.S. I really loved The Hangover too.0 -

I love Fawlty Towers as well; John Cleese is a neighbor of ours and he is so well loved!
I was positively ADDICTED to Torchwood and could not believe that BBC did not renew the most watched, successful series in their history! OMG, what were they thinking? I also watch it's "father show" Dr Who, but I sooo miss Torchwood!

I absolutely adore Gilda Radner. Couldn't agree with you more on that one Carkris. Madeline Kahn, Mel Brooks, and Cloris Leachmen are my other favorites! Eddie Murphy is a hoot too!
