I was diagnosed Stage 3 bc in March, have underone 3 chemo cycles, surgery scheduled for Tuesday. I have been reading your posts for weeks........and they have given me knowledge, support, and courage as I continue on this journey. I just wanted to thank all of you who have taken the time to post on this board and offer such hope and encouragement to me and those like me just starting this journey. I hope I will be able to do the same in the futurte. Although I am frightened to face the surgery and what follows....I remind myself it is flesh they are removing, not an arm, hand, or leg. And, all your experiences have given me the courage to face this.............thanks so much............

    Although we are of course unhappy that you found your way to these boards at all, we are also thankful that it does serve a good purpose! That you have gained much needed courage, coupled with information is a good thing, indeed!

    We are with you every step of your journey; keep us posted, and know that you are not alone...we are a strong sisterhood, as you have already noticed!

    During the nite of my surgery in the hosp, when I couldn't sleep
    and felt so alone, suddenly I felt the love and strength from the prayers of all of my friends,family and those on this board. I actually felt myself strengthen and smile. I wish you that kind of love, strength and peace. For me the worst part was waiting for that day to arrive. After that you are in "fight" mode and are ready for recovery.

    We will be thinking of you, please let us know how you are doing.

    I felt the same way and that
    I felt the same way and that was 3 months ago! Think positive, it will be over before you know it. Please let us know how you are doing after surgery. My prayers are with you.

    I thought of it as "diseased" flesh and so was happy to be rid of it.

    ready or not...it is what it is. But...I will hold all your good wishes and positive thoughts close to me for tomorrow's surgery. I am trying not to dwell on what if's, but rather that you all have been through this, and so will I. As you know, it is scarey... but your posts and your attitudes have truly given me oourage and strength to face this step of the journey. I will post when I can and let you know how I fared........... and hopefully someday I can offer strength and support to another sister

    home from hospital
    Surgery was Tuesday for mastectomy....was released last night from Hospital..... all went well I am told...am sore and taking pain meds. Have two drains in... see dr. next week....
    just wanted to let you know I made it through this step and am positive thanks to all of you sharing your experiences and good wishes.

    Thanks for posting that all was "uneventful" , medically speaking, and that you are home and on the mend. I am sorry that I didn't get to wish you pre-surgery good wishes~may this next phase of the journey find you in good spirits as you move your way on to life After Cancer!

    Prayers,support, positive thoughts, hugs, love, energy will follow you throughout this ordeal. You'll soon be saying " been there, done that" For me, it seemed to go quickly. I continued as much as I could with work, and hiking. Kept me busy and help released good endrophins : ) I "HAD" IDC stage 3c, HER2, ER and PR positive andddd 18/20 pos. lymph nodes. They say remission, I say Cured. Been there, done that! lol Take good care of yourself, physically, spirtually,emotionally and mentally. I still have sad days, cause it does suck, but at least I have healthly children and 2 wonderful healthy new grand children.
    Good spirits on this road. Will be thinking of you on ur journey. Gayla
