Sorry to post such bad news

So many of you have been a part of the prays and good thoughts for over a year now for 6 year old Carter. Early this morning Carter lost his battle with brain cancer. I need to ask this question. Did any of you ever feel like, you should not have survived your cancer. I am not sure I am explaining what I mean. I would have traded my life for a childs life, but thats not what I mean. Having problems putting it into words. I am very sorry to have posted this, but I know some of you would have wanted to know. Please continue to keep the family in your prayers. Thanks

    Kathy, that is such sad news. I'm so sorry and will definately keep you and his family in my thoughts. He was simply taken too young and way too soon!! I hate cancer and just wish there was a cure on the horizon to spare the pain and suffering of children such as Carter. Sending a (((HUG))) your way. Take care.

    It is sooo sad..
    Whenever a child dies of any disease, our hearts are broken. We think of all the things this child will never experience. However, your life touches many people and you still have much to do. I think of "It's A Wonderful Life" and all that changed because one person had never lived. My sons have chronic illnesses and it is likely that I will outlive at least one of them. I would trade places with them in a heartbeat. I need to trust that there is an order to life that I do not understand. Hope this makes sense to you. Again, I'm soooo sad at the loss of this wonderful life.

    My sympathy to you Kat and Carter's family.........
    I am so sorry at the loss of little Carter. He fought hard and was a very strong little boy, surrounded by love. Thank you Kat for bringing his tough battle to our attention. And, thank you for letting us know that Carter has passed on to Heaven now.

    It's hard to understand why
    It's hard to understand why these things happen but someday we will. He is out of pain but it is still painfull for his loved ones. Very sad for them.

    I know. We have no power to lengthen anyones life. I'm beginning to think we have a time and when it's up, that's it. We should make the most of each day we do receive.

    Today one of my high school
    Today one of my high school students came up and was asking me what stage my cancer was at dx(it was stage 2)..she then told me her mother just got dx'd with a stage 4 very aggressive invasive BC 3 weeks ago,already in the lymph nodes etc., and they already have her doing chemo .....I felt so bad for her... she said her mother put off going to the doctor because she was unemployed and didn't have insurance...Yeah,so I get what you mean.... why was I so fortunate to have a curable cancer, while this poor woman with children at home has been hit so hard? Why are small children dying of these agressive cancers while we survive?It's just that genetic timebomb I think......some escape, some don't....So sorry for the loss of Carter...

    I know it was difficult for you to post this, but please don't ever feel bad about posting your sadness, we want to support our sisters in any way we can through the good times and the bad.

    I knew when I saw your thread, Kat, that it had to be about little Carter.
    I am so, so sorry for all that he had to go through during his handful of years on this earth. My heart breaks for his family and what they have endured.
    The bravery of this little guy has been incredible. It certainly humbles me.

    Sorry to hear about little Carter. His suffering is over at last,but sadly,his family's is only just going to begin......

    'survivor's guilt'.....
    I comfort myself with the thought that I have something left to do in this world, and that's why I survived.

    Saying goodbye to kids is the hardest of all...
