Home from Dallas
I did get a walker so that I could make it to the piblic bathrooms on the interstate. Medicare paid 80% on that for information. I am slow to bounce back this time because I was not in good shape going in. Stayed 4/5 to 4/13 in Baylor. I truly didn't feel like leaving Tues. afternoon but had to. My legs are swollen up to about twice the regular size, like Dorion's. Don't have any reason except the trauma of surgery.
I will see the Onc/Gyn on the 12th of May and then go into radiation. They did get 85% of the one tumor I had but the rest in totally involved in blood vessels and everyone agrees that this is the best option for right now. My case went before the Big Board, whoo-pee. Interested in anyone elses' experiece with radiation on one tumor site.
The stoma care takes a lot of my time and energy plus I have a weepy wound that has to be dressed. I have home health care nurse coming every day to help with that, and another one to come and bath me in bed twice a week until I can actually take a shower. I did try a shampoo with a wet towel and no soap.
Joe just rubbed my head like he was drying it after a shampoo and it did remove the smell and oil and fluffed up the waves some.
Everyone asks if I can have the colonoscopy reversed and he left enough so that I can. But not inclined to do any more surgery at this time.
I am so grateful for all the prayer support of all of you. I really felt them coming through in the dark painful time in the hospital. My daughter cried when she read you supportive post for me.

You sure have had
Saundra...
You sure have had the stuffing beat out of you this time around. You are one tough cookie!
Praying that each new day brings you closer to recovery, and that the radiation kicks that tumor's butt!

You are one feisty lady Saundra to be still posting on here while you are still recovering from surgery. I wish you a good recovery and hope things go well for you.

Welcome Home
Dear Saundra, I am so glad you are home, please know once the fluid starts to leave the body you well drop 6-8lbs a night or that is what happened to me. I had elephantitis, the nurses couldn't believe how huge my legs and feet got but now all gone. Our body hangs onto the fluids because of the trauma, a survival mode it takes.
I cannot have a reversal of the colostomy, but even if I could, would not. The colostomy care gets easier and once you have your strength you'll be doing it with ease. I still have Randy help me, as my stoma changes ~ adn the strength it takes to stand that long is a bit much.
Sending lots of prayers your way along with gentle gentle hugs.
Much Love Bonnie

Welcome home, dear Saundra! That 300 mile trip must have been a very difficult. I hope you can rest comfortably in your own bed. Joe must be so pleased to have you home as are all of us. What a joy it is to see posts from both you and Bonnie.

I can only imagine that long trip home, but knowing you were "going home" surely made it easier. You are so brave and strong, although you may not feel that way all the time. But you are inspiring to us all, Saundra. REST! So glad you are out of the hospital.0 -
Saundra!! You made my day~ and WEEK!!!
SOOOO very happy to hear that you are home!! WELCOME HOME!!!
What a long journey after your surgery. I, too, cannot imagine it. I had a 35 mile trip after mine, and it was rough.
I also was very swollen from all of the fluids they give you; my husband had to help lift my legs out of the hospital bed!! But that will go down; and when it does, keep those fluids going.
For bathing you might want to try "Huggies Disposable Washcloths". Have Joe pick some up for you. They are soft, and you just add a little water, and they lather up! I then use a wet washcloth to rinse. Real handy when you aren't up to taking a shower.
Take care of yourself, and so happy that you (and Bonnie!) are both home this week!
(((hugs)))
~Susan (not squeezy hugs... just gentle ones :-)0
