I think the fat pockets your surgeon is referring to is called the omentum. During my hysterectomy, my surgeon also removed the omentum. Many, if not most, of the women here have also had that done as part of the cytoreduction/debulking surgery. I will add a positive outcome for you to my prayers. I was diagnosed January 20 and I remember that the wait for my surgery (February 10th) seemed to take forever! You will absolutely feel better when all of the bad stuff inside is gone.

My surgery went very smoothly, I went in on the 10th and I was discharged from the hospital with no complications on February 14th (Happy Valentine's Day to me!). If you have any questions about what to expect, feel free to ask. The most important advice I have is always be honest with the docs and when they tell you it's time to get up and walk, do it, it really does help the whole recovery process along if you do that!

Like Leesa, my omentum was
Like Leesa, my omentum was removed during my surgery, as well as tubes/ovaries (the rest of my girlie bits were taken out years ago). My cancer had spread to my intestine, so I also had a bowel resection.

Unlike Leesa, I had lots of complications that resulted in a very long hospital stay. Here's hoping your procedure goes more smoothly.

I too had the hysterectomy and omentum removed and 6 liters of fluid. I had surgery on a Wed out Fri morning. I really felt good after. Best of luck keep posting.
