Hello all you Wonderful Ladies,
I have met with my Gyn-Onc, and to start I really really like him..Very caring and at the same time really knows his stuff. I will be going into the hospital on 20 April for a colonoscopy followed by mass removal/hystorectomy on 21 April. The surgeon is also removing the fat pockets woman have in their abdomen for child birth protection. (anyone else have that as part of their procedure?)
I know removing the huge mass alone will make me feel better and thnking positive that the outcome will be a positive one.

Hi Cathy,
I think the fat
Hi Cathy,
I think the fat pockets your surgeon is referring to is called the omentum. During my hysterectomy, my surgeon also removed the omentum. Many, if not most, of the women here have also had that done as part of the cytoreduction/debulking surgery. I will add a positive outcome for you to my prayers. I was diagnosed January 20 and I remember that the wait for my surgery (February 10th) seemed to take forever! You will absolutely feel better when all of the bad stuff inside is gone.
My surgery went very smoothly, I went in on the 10th and I was discharged from the hospital with no complications on February 14th (Happy Valentine's Day to me!). If you have any questions about what to expect, feel free to ask. The most important advice I have is always be honest with the docs and when they tell you it's time to get up and walk, do it, it really does help the whole recovery process along if you do that!
HUGS!

Like Leesa, my omentum wasMwee said:Hi Cathy
I'm so glad that you really like your Gyn-Onc for that will make your whole experience that much easier and yes, I had that as part of my procedure. Nice to meet you, Ms. New-Be!

Like Leesa, my omentum was removed during my surgery, as well as tubes/ovaries (the rest of my girlie bits were taken out years ago). My cancer had spread to my intestine, so I also had a bowel resection.
Unlike Leesa, I had lots of complications that resulted in a very long hospital stay. Here's hoping your procedure goes more smoothly.

Hi,
Having a doctor you feel
Hi,
Having a doctor you feel good about is winning half the battle.
I've also had my omentum removed. You are so right about feeling better once the mass/fluids are removed.
Good luck and God bless; things will go great for you.
