Say a prayer for me please...
I made the call and have my first mammogram since my initial dx - almost a year ago now. I'm so worried and upset - I'd been doing really well and a month ago or so I started gettin so aprehensive and depressed. Every ache and pain now I associate with that "being something" YIKES - I was doing so well and felt like I was on top of all this and now I'm a mess!
My appt is tomorrow (Thurs 2-25) and as I had a uni-lateral mastectomy, what do they do for the surgical side? I have Kaiser and I'm sure I won't have a CAT or PET scan - maybe a chest x-ray? Anyone else out there who knows?
..anyway..please keep me in your prayers - I'm a basketcase!
thanks so very much,
-Jenny

Anxiety!
Jenny, I can feel your anxiety and can very much relate to it. I'm guessing I should be having that done soon myself and I did wonder about the side of the mastectomy. Doesn't look like anyone addressed that yet. I am very curious to know how they monitor that wonderful 'flat' side. But, just like everything else we've been through... we hype ourselves up, freak out and usually come out it with a big sigh! I can't wait to hear you sigh0 -

I know the anxiety your feeling. I felt the same way when I went for my first mammo after surgery. It's scary. Sending prayer. Good luck0 -

You're Normal!
Jennytwist - I just got done with having my second mamo after a diagnosis of breast cancer exactly two years ago and having a mastectomy. I've been filled with anxiety both times - I think it's probably normal to feel that way. Both times it's just been a mamo of the one breast I now have. I think it must be up to your onc to check the surgical side for any lumps. i got good reports both times and you will too.
I'll keep you in my prayers and am sending positive thoughts your way. Girl Power!!!!!0 -

Jenny,
I will be there with you in thoughts and prayers. I can imagine how nervous you must be because every year when it was time for my mammogram I would be so nervous and this was before I was dx this past dec. I am sure I will be a basket case myself when my time after treatment comes around. I know it's hard but just try to keep positive thoughts and I hope to hear good news from you soon. Hugs, Terri0 -

I am sending a big cyber hug your way. I am six years out from treatment and I still get aprehensive before my mamo. All your thoughts and emotions are so normal among us cyber sisters. Take deep deep breaths and try to relax. Get out your big girl panties and put them back on and stay on top of all this. You can do it. Let us know.
Sooooooo good to hear from you
Hugs

I'm sure there's a better word, but that's what I call it. I also had a unilateral nearly 4 years ago now, and so far, NOTHING has been done to the "empty" side. I am thinking that when I finish Femara, I may get an ultrsound on that side. Don't know. Maybe yes, maybe no. My pcp has said that she will do any scan I wish for. Gotta love her!
By now, the deed has been done, and you are a little more at ease. Here's hoping for good results!
