Dear Pink. I think your best response is "no response at all". How absurd! I guess you can interpret any part of the bible to disclose your personal beliefs, but I really think that God is not so malicious that he makes judgements and thrusts disease about based on how we act or think. Nowhere is it written that God sends down the wrath of cancer on someone because they don't think a certain way. He is a forgiving God, and always will be there for those who believe. I think your sister-in-law may have a personal grudge, and is using God's word to her own self satisfaction. Therefore, my thought is to ignore her ignorance, and devote your energies to beating this beast. We are behind you. Hugs, Judy0 -
OMG!
Who is more judgemental, heartless and stupid? Her or that TV 'Preacher'?.... No wonder she is you 'EX' sis in law............ How grossly unempathetic and just down right nasty can a person be?
Talking to you like that is the only SIN..........These self righteous sods should be shot!
Pink......... You did nothing to deserve this horrible disease, and I'm sure you did nothing to provoke this nasty shrew into berating you in the name of religion....
Tell her to go to hell........... She probably is already familiar with that place within her soul (if she has one)
Huge Hugs Jxxxxxxxxxxxx0 -
Stupid is not the word for this
Well all I have to say is thank God it's in my right breast Lol. I would not respond to her at all. She is the one who is going to have to answer one day for her ways. I think this is just mean. I would just ignore her and don't let her get to you. I can think of a better word for this, but I would get flaged.0 -

If you are smart you
Pink
If you are smart you will drop your ex sister in law from your life. And what a stupid, no more than stupid, preacher. I wonder what his interpretation of prostrate cancer would be. While I suppose that it is best to ignore this, if I were you I would tell my ex SIL that I no longer wish to continue contact. I would also tell her that I heard that witches often disguise themselves as friends and offer people apples that are laced with poison. Tell her you don't wish to accept anything more from her. This was nasty, cruel, and ugly and so is she.

I'm so sorry your former SIL chose to torment you in such an unkind way. Many people are skilled at pulling text out of context to support a pretext. Unfortunately, this only leads to false teaching, and helps to drive people away from the mercies of the Lord.
The Bible tells us that "He makes the sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust." Job 25:3. And Christ quotes that verse in His sermon on the mount, found in Matthew Chapter 5. If cancer were the result of a person's unforgiven sin, then people all over the world would be suffering in direct proportion to the evil they commit. And they do eventually, unless they seek salvation. But not in this life.0 -
I Am Sorry
I am sorry you have to hear something like this. Unfortunately, there are people out there who explain cancer as our fault. We did something, we drank too much diet coke, or ate too much fast food, or didn't exercise enough. The truth is that no one knows why we get cancer. We just do. And since we need to be positive to be healthy, I try to avoid negative people like your sis in law.

OMG! A few things come to
OMG! A few things come to mind:
1) She TEXTED you this?! 2) There is a reason she is an EX.
3) You can't fix stupid. 4) She thought it would be "helpful" to send you this info, why?
It reminds me of the old adage: I refuse to enter into a battle of wits with an un-armed person.
The reason you couldn't think of anything to say in return is because there really is nothing to say, is there?
When this EX sees sick babies or young children with cancer getting a dying wish granted from the Make A Wish Foundation, does she wonder how much sin and bottled up emotions they were harboring?? And shame, shame, shame on any preacher preying instead of praying.
Don't lose any sleep over this one...contine to coming to this safe place, with true Kindred Spirits who know better.
Hugs,
Chen♥0 -
wow
WOW your SIL sent you a text with that mess on it, with my bc on the right side i just wonder what i did to get it? I think she is the one with the problem with family and with life it self, pray for her she needs it but at the same time i would be keeping away from her she has a problem if he call just tell her you are not taking calls right now and if she text you just don't read it, its going to upset you because she don't seee anything wrong with sending a text like that.girl power...0 -
Let me tell you just how
Let me tell you just how much of a MORON your ex SIL is! I had an Aunt and Uncle. She was a smoker, and drank, she took the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior, she and my Uncle were Born again Christians. Well, In that dufus preacher's eyes, that was SIN that was forgiven!(only using the dufus as an example of how WRONG and STUPID his remark was!)
Well, my dear aunt got BREAST CANCER in her LEFT breast, she had it back in the late 60's, Total Radical mastectomy, she was in her 50's when she got it, (my Uncle actually found the lump) she lived to be in her 80's.
Second case where the DUFUS is wrong! My husbands' Aunt and uncle, ALSO devout Christians, She got Cancer, metastisies all through her, she was in her 80's when she died, her belief was so complete and strong, in her last moments, she was actually for all intents and purposes unconscious, at her time of death, she opened her eyes one last time, with minister and Family with her she said "Jesus, I see Jesus"
So tell your SIl to go crawl under a rock along with that stupid Dufus of a minister!0 -

I can't believe that some people are truly that ignorant and that mean. What will she quote when one of her kids or her husband or herself or her parents become afflicted with some horrid disease or condition? Stupid people like her do not deserve the air it takes for you to speak, so, I agree totally with Judy, no response is the best response. It will only make her look dumber, if that is even possible. I am so sorry.

omg
she calls herself a christian, what a mean person the first thing she has to learn..dont judge others/ she must of sined big time to worry about that , text her back and say i think you should go for a mamagram lol0 -
After reading your post I
After reading your post I instantly started thinking, hhmmm, what did I do, I have it in my left breast.....craziness!! God is a forgiving, caring, loving God he is not a punishing God. It's my belief that the unhealthy foods we eat and the unhealthy air we breath is a major contributor to ALL cancers. How sad that your ex SIL would send such a horrible message to you, karma, karma, karma, I truly believe in that. Say nothing to her, sit back and watch this situation take care of itself. Really I would pray for her, she apparently needs it. I truly believe that nothing, absolutely nothing happens in Gods world by mistake. We don't know why we were chosen to battle this beast but we have been and if we turn it around, we can look at it like this....I have breast cancer, it's no fun and all these treatments, being bald, being sick, and looking like I have cancer is getting really old, however; I have learned to be more sensitive to others, never take any moment for granted, and to love love and love some more. Many people have hurt me, hurt me very deeply (including my sister in law), during my fight and I have learned to "let go and let God"
Pink....you are beautiful, keep fighting, and take care of yourself,
Big Big Hugs,

Power Over vs. Power With
Some people seek power over others. Other people seek power with others. We here on CSN are among the latter. Your XSIL is among the former.
People who seek power *over* others do so because they themselves feel inadequate, and they don't know any better way to raise themselves up except by bringing others down--putting others down below them so they feel superior. That is HER problem--and you don't have to let it be YOUR problem, too.
I think your response encouraging her to read John 3:16 was a good one. I agree with the others that you don't need to respond further and that she deserves nothing further from you. In fact, I'm wondering if you can ask your cell company to block her number. In addition, if you have an attorney friend, you might get him/her to write your XSIL a letter stating that further malicious harrassment is not acceptable and will be prosecuted.
I much prefer to seek and live among the people who seek power *with*, don't you? Instead of making ourselves feel superior by beating others down, we help ourselves feel better about ourselves by raising each other up. Halleluiah!

Pink, here's my suggestion. Why don't you copy and paste this entire discussion on an email to your EX SIL. That way, nothing will be missed in conveying our exact feelings on her stupidity!! Take care.
I usually find it the nicest people who get this. I ;ve had it in both what does that mean. She isnt worth your time. Your time is best spent on you and getting well.0 -

thanks to all of yall!!! You just affirmed my feelings that she is just mean spirited. Not to toot my own horn but the mother in law always liked me and I always felt she was jealous of that relationship. I have decided not to respond to her. My oldest 2 daughters 24 & 20 are on her case now which I assume is why she has not sent me any further text messages. I do love the suggestion to suggest she get a mommogram
